Home Based Call Center Job- Few Equipment Requirements

As a home based call center agent, you should have resort to those equipments that will work better to meet your requirements. Here, you will come across some similar equipment that works well to meet your job requirements. Luckily, many people include a major half of the essential equipment ready with them from before. This helps them to buy few fresh pieces or some upgrades to carry forward their regular tasks.

Let’s take a look at the basic list of diverse equipments that you need. The given list will also include other office enhancements that you’ll require to apply and qualify for the work-from-home customer care agent.

Computer

Having computer at home will be your first and foremost essential requirement. You need to include Windows XP, 200O or the new Vista with a minimum of 300 MHz processor. In addition, about 600 MB free hard drive space is necessitated for a home based virtual call center agent, including 256 MB RAM. Furthermore, you can also be asked to incorporate Internet Explorer 6.0 with anti-spyware software and antivirus software.

Headset

One corded headset including the essential noise-cancelling microphone will be one new piece of equipment to be purchased by a virtual call center agent. If you find it difficult to find such headsets in your local stores then you can find several websites, which specialize in offering this kind of equipment.

High Speed Internet Connectivity

A major half of the communication process with your work that includes assisting customers and taking the orders will be carried out on your own computer. Moreover, communication with your employer will be done in the similar manner. In this regard, you will require an email id to serve your main purpose.

You can also have to download any instant messenger or the VoIP (voice over IP) program. This will be the way to get connected with your employer via Internet. You will also be able to access all the given records and data that you need to carry forward your task as the home call center agent.

In order to help customers in an efficient and timely manner, you will be required to ensure high speed internet access via the DSL or the cable modem of at least 128k. There can be few employers who will not permit satellite or wireless connection.

Telephone

Traditional corded sets are the preferred ones. The VoIP and cellular phones are normally not acceptable. More so, most employers do not allow the home call center representative to use the cordless phones. However, there are exceptions. Few companies are allowing the use of cordless headsets and phones.

Most employers will stress you to include separate phone lines for taking the calls while working on daily basis. This will leave minimal chances of receiving all types of non-work related phone calls during the regular shift hours.

Simultaneous Telephone and Internet Access

Your employer may want you to include the ability to maintain both Internet and telephone presence. At the same line, you should not be using the cell phone or the other VoIP phone line like Vonage or Skype.

I answer my phone I answer my phone - when I worked in the Call Center we had to say "Good XXXXXX, Andy speaking, How may I help you?" imagine saying that over and over again. It kind of sticks with you. It's been a few years now but I've kicked off "How may I help you?" part.
Money I made while in School Money I made while in School - While in university I did have a Student Loan (still paying that bugger off) and had a part-time job as a Call Center agent (inbound). *Canada* I also designed websites (outsourced all the work). I just worked on getting new customers, managed the projects to completion and helped create Marketing Plans for my clients (Online and Offline). *Canada* When I was studying the in the States I also made some money as a Part-time Flight instructor. *USA*
Re: Trade Shows - Are They Worth It? Re: Trade Shows - Are They Worth It? - HI, I have used trade shows (not participated) to collect potential clients. For example, the Home & Garden Industry is extremely behind the time in regards to their websites. I attended an Home & Garden Expo in Denver and collected all the companies contact information. I plan on cold calling & mailing information to each business. It also gave me time to research the industry more, talk directly to the owners in many cases, and learn more about what they need. Jeff
Equipment leasing Equipment leasing - Equipment leasing has many benefits, such as tax benefits, conserving money and always having up to date equipment to stay competative to name a few. Obviously, it's partially dependent upon what type of business you have as to whether you will benefit more than someone else but... Do you think it's worth leasing your equipment rather than purchasing it? Can you think of any other reasons you can benefit from it or any reasons this is not a good idea?
