Bad Medicine: Why Your Health Habits Matter

Bad Medicine: Why Your Health Habits Matter

Unless We Ditch Obamacare, You Really Need The NEWSS Here's another in a long line of horror stories about government health care: in Britain, where patients are at the mercy of the national health system, some nurses have refused to leave any water for their charges overnight. Why? For their safety, if you can believe it. See, there aren't enough nurses to watch all the patients during those late night shifts... nobody much wants to go into nursing in the United Kingdom these days. So what if a patient were to try to drink some water, and end up choking herself? The safe thing, they figure, is just to make sure no one has access to any dangerous water overnight.

Exact figures are yet to become available on the number of deaths caused by this deprivation of life's most critical necessity. However, rumor has it that the plants in the hospitals are still thriving. The plants, after all, are still entitled to water.

Government health care, at its best, is klunky and inefficient as the medical system tries to fit messy cases into the neat rules that govern who's entitled to what. The trouble is that government health care is rarely at its best. Usually it's at something less than its best, and usually people get sicker, wait forever for remedies, and die.

However, because fanning the flames of class warfare is more important to America's liberal leaders than just about anything else, this sort of government medicine is just the sort of thing that fits in nicely with the "progressive" agenda. President Obama and his party comrades in Congress could not wait to execute a government takeover of the greatest medical system ever known to man... and that's why they rushed through their "Obamacare" legislation earlier this year.

There are plenty of reasons about two-thirds of American voters want Obamacare repealed. It was rammed through with dubious procedural trickery. Despite being billed as a cost reduction measure, the legislation actually bloats government spending and will drive tax rates through the roof. It's dishonest: despite promises to the contrary issued by lawmakers who didn't have time to read the bill before passing it, Obamacare contains such nasty surprises as federal funding for abortion. As I discussed in previous articles, the monstrosity guarantees doctor shortages, an end to new innovations in drugs and devices, and rationing of care based on "cost efficiency." It turns out Obamacare has nothing to do with "health care reform," and everything to do with money and power for the federal government.

But if there were no other good reasons to ditch this loser, the fact that it will, over time, ruin the quality of medical care in America is more than reason enough.

If the progressives have their way, and Obamacare serves as the flagship for our full-steam-ahead voyage toward the socialist Utopia, you will not be able to get high quality health care in America at any price. But wait... there's more! Since we have the last major free market medical system left on Earth, NO ONE will be able to get quality care. Even those wealthy enough to pay top dollar. Of course, that might be the best reason for Obamacare's existence, if you look at it from the perspective of the far-left liberal government. It's the socialist creed: no winners in society, and no losers.

Ignored is the fact that if there are no winners to employ others, it's a short slide to totalitarian socialism, and then we all lose.

Ronald Reagan famously said "If we lose freedom here, there will be no place left for the rest of the world to go. This is the last stand on earth." And nowhere does the prescience of that comment become more obvious than in the Obamacare fiasco. Once the liberals have killed off our amazing medical system, where will the rest of the world go for the treatments they need? Where will the hundreds of Brits and Canadians (including the Canadian prime minister, who recently had surgery in Florida) go to flee the waiting-lists-of-death they face from their own governments' systems?

The death of medical quality is only one of the scary aspects of our new "health care reform." It's only one reason your health habits matter, and you need to take personal responsibility for your own vitality now so that you might be less dependent on government medicine in the future. Start with the five key daily habits I call The NEWSS: Nutrition, Exercise, Water, Sleep, and Supplements. Eat fresh foods and stop eating processed crap. Exercise at least five times a week, getting your heart rate up for at least 15 minutes. Drink two liters of water every day. Get eight hours of sleep. And take a good multi-vitamin (I recommend an easily-absorbed liquid nutraceutical).

And since this mess is actually going to cost you much more in taxes, you might want to move now to protect your financial health, too. Start a business on the side to create a protected revenue stream from which you can't be laid off. And get smart about the global conspiracy against wealth - if you don't know how to protect the money you make, it will simply be taken from you in the coming global economic pummelling in which Obamacare is only the first harsh blow.

It's hard to believe our great medical system has become like a patient in the intensive care ward. Unless we can reverse it, Obamacare will drain every drop of life blood from this patient. That's why you have to step up now, and take personal responsibility for your own vitality.

The 7 Habits not only offers some very effective ways to organize your life (which I have yet to master!), but also some great quotations and thought provoking statements including this by Nazi concentration camp survivor, Viktor Frankl: [i:2naxzsom]Between stimulus and response, man has the freedom to choose.[/i:2naxzsom] Seth Godin's Permission Marketing is a good read for anybody seeking to understand how to approach doing business on the Internet in the right way with regard to winning people's trust.

Re: Money Does Not Guarantee Happiness Re: Money Does Not Guarantee Happiness - Thanks for singling this point out, Chris. One book that comes to mind that covers it in an overall approach is "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People" by Stephen Covey. He addresses our inner life and the way it can change our effectiveness home and at work. There are corporations who have taken this model and effectively molded their business around it.
