Be The Inspiration You Want From Others

You Must Be And Do Before You Can Have You know what's great? Being an entrepreneur. I'm not talking about owning a business - that's great, too - but about being the kind of person who would own a business, take initiative, take risk, rely on his own talents and efforts. Times are tough, and getting tougher, but the entrepreneurs among us will be the ones who lead us all back to prosperity after the latest-greatest experiment in collectivism comes crashing down.

I've spoken and written often about the difference between the two basic types out there: The Entrepreneur, and The Victim. We all have both striving within us, and we'll be dominated by the one we feed and merely nagged on occasion by the one we consciously starve. So starve your inner Victim by refusing handouts and "entitlements," avoiding negative conversations and negative people, and rising above the temptation to elect leaders who play to your victimhood.

Feed your inner Entrepreneur. Have the courage to start and run a business, even if it's an internet business you can run on the side, so you aren't dependent upon any employer (private or governmental). Take initiative in everything you do, seeking always to make the world better for yourself, your family, and others. And build the muscles of self-reliance, so that you can be "fit" when the inevitable economic crash hits.

Some people live in envy. They look at others who are more successful, and they want what those successful people have. Sometimes they claim that the successful simply have too much, and seek to flat-out take from them (this is known as "income redistribution"). The mainstream media feeds this, of course, with constant messages about how profitable certain enterprises (like oil companies) are, without mentioning the billions those enterprises pay in taxes and the hundreds of thousands of people they employ. When you hear these messages and arguments, you can be assured you're listening to Victims.

In the short term, confiscation and redistribution of wealth can certainly be accomplished, but the Victims still will not be satisfied. That's because they've done things in the wrong order. You can't just keep taking what other people earn through their Entrepreneurial initiative... eventually, you will run out of other peoples' money. Instead, you must first BE an Entrepreneur (in character). Then you must DO the things Entrepreneurs do (including taking risks and making sacrifices). Only after those two prerequisites are satisfied can you legitimately HAVE what successful entrepreneurs have.

Like everyone, I'm tempted by envy at times. But I try to starve my inner Victim by pushing that envy aside. Instead, I try to focus on the blessing of an Entrepreneurial spirit. I try to bear in mind that the Victim in each of us can never be truly happy. It's the Entrepreneur, in free pursuit of happiness, who can actually attain it.

It's scary at times, but be thankful for your Entrepreneurial urges. Make sure you build those muscles of personal responsibility, and that you're ready when the crash comes. Want to be an inspiration to others? Then be the inspiring Entrepreneur (at least in spirit) you truly are, and do what successful Entrepreneurs do, whether you own a business or not.

Remember: Victimhood has never inspired anyone.

Being an Entrepreneur can be a lonely road at times and I'd like to dig up and have people describe the fire they hold inside. I'm hoping that through this exercise I can acknowledge and become aware of my fire that I'm having trouble verbalizing.
Re: What inspires you? Re: What inspires you? - Inspiration is nothing it is what you called to do? Some work for money, some work for satisfaction, some work because they have priorities in life. It is the passion to do something for achievement or to show that you can do it by using one's talent. I know there are people who are doing great things with their limited skill sets. So, my view point about inspiration is to Dream Big and try to achieve it. I would rather add "Listen to your self". Listen to Inner guide and follow it. You will reach great heights. Robert
