Don't Take Your Life For Granted

Guest post by: Michael Hume

Article Overview: As you may know, many of my clients are seeking to increase their inspirational leadership. You can't be an inspirational leader until you're inspired, and you can't be inspired without being happy and appreciative of the many wonderful things that surround you. So take an inventory of the things (or people) you might be taking for granted, and find a way to be more appreciative of them now....

Don't Take Your Life For Granted

Appreciation Is The Key To Inspiration It's late in the evening, I've missed dinner, and I've spent the last several hours on the phone with computer geeks. But for all that, I have managed to recover my computer (and, therefore, my business) from a nasty virus.

You never think it's going to happen to you... but no matter how careful you are (I was VERY careful), you can lose everything on your computer in the blink of an eye.

I have to admit that I had taken my little computer for granted. Every day, no matter what I asked of it, it performed beautifully. It did the same things it had done every other day, just as I asked it to.

Until yesterday.

There I was, flipping through emails, when suddenly everything "seized up." Apparently, a "trojan horse" virus that had been lurking on my computer for DAYS picked Easter Sunday to unleash its fury upon my data.

As I mentioned, it looks like it's going to be a happy ending for my little computer, but it took hours on the phone with a nice Pakistani lady before my virus was cured. It could've been much worse... it wasn't clear until moments ago that I was going to get my programs and files back.

So don't take the "little" things in your life for granted. Think about it. What a blessing it is to have a computer at all, let alone an internet connection and a sophisticated way to connect to the world! Like me, all you need is a computer and a 'net connection to start your own business, manage your own investments, communicate with everyone you know, even publish brilliant content like the piece you see before you.

As you may know, many of my clients are seeking to increase their inspirational leadership. You can't be an inspirational leader until you're inspired, and you can't be inspired without being happy and appreciative of the many wonderful things that surround you. So take an inventory of the things (or people) you might be taking for granted, and find a way to be more appreciative of them now.

Don't wait until it's too late! My computer's talking to me again... but for some relationships, there might not be a way to restore the system, no matter how many hours you spend on the phone with Pakistan.

The Second Life Platform The Second Life Platform - Greetings! I'm not sure how many of you have heard of or are sensitive to Second Life and its related entities. However, Second Life is a fantastic platform to mimmick real life business operations in a real currency based economy. There are plenty of successful stories for creative individuals, but I'd highly suggest doing your research and appreciating Second Life for what it is, and what it isn't.

Re: Charge what you're worth Re: Charge what you're worth - [quote="Tami Szabo":292ze3jd]People will pay you what you ask. Very few will ever up the price. You are the one who decided what you are worth. The key is that we believe our services are worth the price we are asking.[/quote:292ze3jd] Hi Tami, You're absolutely right. In "Think and Grow Rich", Jessie B. Rittenhouse says "For Life is a just employer, He gives you what you ask, But once you have set the wages, Why, you must bear the task. I worked for a menial's hire Only to learn, dismayed , That any wage I had asked of Life, Life would have willingly paid" (Napoleon Hill 35). I think the same can be said when setting prices on eBay or Craigslist, especially when people are trying to haggle you.
