Exploration Can Bring Inspiration

Don't Get Stuck In The Same Old Valley The other day, I went looking for North Park. Eventually, I found it, and along the way I found beauty, solitude, and a surprising amount of inspiration.

Maybe you've heard of the irreverent hit show, "South Park." It is set in a fictional small Colorado town by that name. There is no town of South Park, Colorado, but there is a real South Park. Colorado has three big "parks," which are hard to describe: they're huge bowls, valleys, or "flat spots" nestled in the Rocky Mountains, ringed on all sides by majestic peaks. I had visited South Park many times, as well as Middle Park (home of some of my high school's sports rivals). But I'd never been to North Park. Seen it on the map, heard it was gorgeous, but never been there.

Recently, on a day off from running my business, I took several hours and went on the hunt for North Park. My destination was the town of Walden, Colorado, which sits in the center of North Park (and which is best known for being the Moose Viewing Capital of Colorado, as well as the home of the 1990 White House Christmas tree).

I purposely took the long way to Walden, and back... I wanted to favor roads I'd never travelled, and visit places I'd never been. And I cannot here describe to you the idyllic things I discovered. Wide-open vistas... ranches that look like movie sets... little towns that feel like paradise... drifts of snow still yards-deep in June... rivers and streams roiling with spring run-off... roads that wind through deep, mysterious-looking forests... huge swaths of trees that've been killed by pine beetles... jagged peaks and rolling hillsides... natural meadows filled with flowers that couldn't be more beautiful if an army of expert gardeners had worked months to cultivate them.

For hours, I let my eyes feast and my imagination wander. I thought up at least three great ideas for my business, and I wrote a song, all before I made it back to our house and "civilization."

This summer, do whatever it takes to inspire yourself. Get out there and surround yourself with the glory of God's creation, and turn on the imagination that is likely your greatest gift. Find something new to enjoy! Even if you already live in a beautiful place, there's more undiscovered good stuff out there... and exploring it will do you a lot of good.

Describe Your Inspiration/Motivation Describe Your Inspiration/Motivation - I'd like to open up discussion with the group to identify how us entrepreneurs keep you goals insight without loosing Inspiration for what got you going initially. Being an Entrepreneur can be a lonely road at times and I'd like to dig up and have people describe the fire they hold inside. I'm hoping that through this exercise I can acknowledge and become aware of my fire that I'm having trouble verbalizing.
Re: What inspires you? Re: What inspires you? - Inspiration is nothing it is what you called to do? Some work for money, some work for satisfaction, some work because they have priorities in life. It is the passion to do something for achievement or to show that you can do it by using one's talent. I know there are people who are doing great things with their limited skill sets. So, my view point about inspiration is to Dream Big and try to achieve it. I would rather add "Listen to your self". Listen to Inner guide and follow it. You will reach great heights. Robert

Re: Quote of the Day - "Don't be embarrassed about asking "stupi Re: Quote of the Day - "Don't be embarrassed about asking "stupi - 100% agree with this. It's also a great lesson towards getting people to stop worrying about what others think of them. I've also found that on forums the "sorry this may be a stupid question but..." type of questions often produce a lot of useful responses, which is good for the person asking the question, good for the forum users, and good for the forum owners. Bring on the "stupid questions"!
