Government Needs To Change Its Own Health Habits

Government Needs To Change Its Own Health Habits

Until It Does, Stay Disciplined With Yours Today the new U.S. House of Representatives begins debate on a measure to repeal last year's "Obamacare" overhaul of the nation's medical system. Obamacare has become generally unpopular among average citizens, possibly because most Americans realize the law had nothing to do with health, with care, or with reform. Instead, it's recognized as the typical sort of socialist-leaning overreach by liberal Democrats, who had total control of the U.S. government for two years and used Obamacare as the flagship of their push of the nation toward collective statism.

But many average citizens don't care about the politics - they care about the outcomes. Obamacare would gut the U.S. economy, for starters; it's utterly ridiculous to think this recession-laden nation could support any new entitlement programs, let alone such an expensive and sweeping measure. We can't even sustain the massive entitlements we already have. And while some voters don't appreciate how far such entitlements take us from the government envisioned by our founders, they still understand how Obamacare would reduce medical quality, drain talented brains away from medical and pharmaceutical research, and create dangerous doctor shortages while dumbing-down the practices of the docs who remain.

At a press conference yesterday, White House spokesperson Robert Gibbs smirked and declared that the move to repeal Obamacare wasn't a "serious legislative effort."

Oh, but Mr. Gibbs, we are serious. We know the liberal Democrats still have a majority in the Senate... but it's a thin majority, and some of those political creatures may end up valuing re-election more than the false nobility of going down with the sinking Obamacare ship. We know the president is likely to veto any repeal, and that his opponents don't enjoy the sort of majorities needed to override him... but he'd have to defend that veto, and that would cost him valuable political capital. We who favor repeal of Obamacare understand that the voters sent a message in November, and that if Obamacare can't be repealed, voters want it de-funded. And there is no rule against sending multiple repeal bills to the Senate and the president, forcing liberals to defend again and again why they insist on sticking with this economy-killing legislation.

Obamacare is, at bottom, a wild spending spree. It's a government land-grab. It's a transfer of a sixth of the U.S. economy from the job-creating private sector to the wealth-destroying public sector. In a metaphoric sense, Obamacare (having been rammed down the patient's throat with dubious legislative procedures) is like a cancer on our economy. It's a glut of carcinogenic taxes and spending, the likes of which have made our government fat, slow, and stupid.

We are very serious about this effort. Diet and exercise are immediately in order - and so is the scalpel being applied by conservatives in Congress as we speak.

It's going to take some time to remove this cancer from our society... and the disease may come back. It may be impossible to keep us free from such socialist ailments as government medicine forever, since the left dominates the institutions (academe, media, Hollywood) by which propaganda can be pumped into the populace like an IV solution. If we don't cut spending and taxes seriously, the eradication of the Obamacare cancer won't keep the patient from expiring.

Don't take a chance. Keep yourself as healthy and vital as possible, focusing on what I call The NEWSS: the five key daily health habits of Nutrition, Exercise, Water, Sleep, and Supplements. Try as long as possible to keep from being dependent on government health care.

And while you're at it, look at your own financial health, too. Cut your debt - take a second job if you have to (or, better, start a home-based internet business). And change the way you invest your money - take personal responsibility to get a real education about the global conspiracy against wealth, and find ways to protect your own wealth against it.

We have the greatest doctors in the world, right here in America. Let's hope the legislative doctors - the conservative members of Congress - are successful in the operating room and in their long-term treatment of our sick economy. The health of our nation (and of the broader global economy) depends on it.

Re: Can someone explain Search engine optimization to me? Re: Can someone explain Search engine optimization to me? - Hi, Ask yourself, "What is the goal of a search engine like Google?" A search engine's goal is to provide the most related (or best) web page results when someone searches. Do you think people are searching for "Auction Cars Government" or "Government Car Auction." In fact type those keywords into Google with the quotation marks. You will find that Google gives different results for each keyword phrases. Granted you get many of the web pages ranking the same but there is a difference. My answer is, use "Government Car Auction" or even "Government Seized Car Auction" because that is what people are searching for. That is how the majority of the indexed pages use. That is what makes sense when you read the phrase. Jeff

Re: Obama Wants Social Security for Illegals Re: Obama Wants Social Security for Illegals - [quote:21pbp7ux]Unfortunately, I think Obama is going to pull another "Roosevelt." According to economists, Roosevelt's plans for the New Deal extended the Depression by 7 yeasrs... We can already see today that nothing has "changed." Incompetent bankers, lenders, and businessmen get into trouble, the politicains vote to give them billions of dollars of *our* money to bail them out...and yet there is no oversight of how the politicians are going to spend that money! They can do anything they want with it including bailing out the auto companies. Frankly, I sure do wish I worked for Chrysler right now. They've shut down all their plants... and yet every worker will continue to be paid their full salary...for sitting around the house doing absolutely nothing. (I wonder if they'll get Christmas Eve and Christmas Day triple time pay, too.)[/quote:21pbp7ux] This is what happens when the Government gets involved and puts its nose where it shouldn't. Let the market correct itself. There is no reason for the Government to bail everyone out. If the businesses, mainly banks, weren't corrupted with greed, this wouldn't have happened. They are and it did, so let them dwindle away and pay for their mistakes. That's what any small business has to do. Why should they be any different. They have gotten away with it for over 10 years! Surely they should have seen this coming. [quote:21pbp7ux]Sad but this is exactly how I feel about it. Change is coming - but unless I'm really wrong, it is not a change this country needs. Amazing how much a good speaker with a good speech writer can do. If you paid attention to the things he said "off script" - much of it is frightening. Chris[/quote:21pbp7ux] It IS sad. What's more sad is the fact that Obama had the media wrapped around his finger, and still does. The media is just as corrupt as the banks.
