I Want You To Be Stinking Rich

Free "The Wealthy," Don't Tax Them Away It's April 15, a date all Americans have looked upon with trepidation for generations now - it's the day your tax bill's typically due. About a hundred years ago, the collectivists in America finally succeeded in implementing one of their most prized policy aims - an income tax on all U.S. workers. Well, at least back then, it was supposed to be ALL workers, and it was only supposed to be about two percent of your salary.

Times have changed.

Today, since the "progressive" income tax has progressed to wealth confiscation on a level un-dreamed-of by even the most ardent American communists of a century ago, a tiny fraction of America's workers will pay the overwhelming majority of the taxes that keep our federal government running (and spending wildly). And about half of American workers will pay no tax at all. That half - the huge and growing percentage of Americans considered too "poor" to pay taxes - will instead be on the receiving end of all that money by means of massive entitlement spending.

Two days ago, President Obama asserted on national TV that "the wealthy" still weren't paying their fair share of our national tax burden. Spending cuts alone, he argued, won't right the sinking ship... we need to soak those stinking rich people even more.

Previous presidents, particularly ones who weren't actually trying to collapse our free-market system under the weight of entitlement spending so they could usher in a new era of collective statism, understood taxation differently. Ronald Reagan, for instance, was fond of saying that whenever you tax something, you get less of it. He understood that wealth flows away from taxation and toward free-market opportunity.

In other words, you're not going to get a job from a poor person. I want you to be stinking rich, so you aren't out there competing with my kids for jobs, but are instead out there creating jobs for them.

But if our government taxes your wealth, our nation will have less of it. If they tax your income, you'll earn less of it. If they tax away the ability of the market to create jobs, there'll be fewer jobs to go around, and even more people standing in line for their government entitlements. As Margaret Thatcher famously said, the trouble with socialism is that, eventually, you do run out of other people's money.

On the other hand, if taxes were dramatically cut, revenue to the government would soar. Sure, you'd get fewer bucks from the small (and dwindling) number of super-rich folks... but you'd suddenly have a LOT more taxpayers working jobs at a LOT more businesses, and people would once again come from every other nation to invest in America, the Land of Opportunity.

Look, we need defense (the best in the world, in fact). We need infrastructure, like highways and bridges and reservoirs, and we need some regulation of the markets from the government. And we can get all that, and a lot more, with LOWER taxes. Everywhere collectivism has been tried, it has failed. The Russians learned this lesson the hard way: after the collapse of the Soviet Union, the new free-market Russia tried a steep progressive income tax, and it nearly crushed the nation again. When they went to a flat (and much lower) tax, things got a lot better, and quickly.

What can you do? Take personal responsibility to prepare. Start your own business, if you can, so you won't be reliant upon the government for a job or a handout. Get smart about what's really going on in the global economy, and make investments that grow and protect your wealth. Buy gold and silver. Grow some of your own food. Make some of your own energy, if you can.

The progressives who've ended up with power in America want you poor, and dependent upon the government for your very livelihood. I don't. I want you to be stinking rich, and making the nation (and the world) a better place for all of us.
