Make Five Commitments To Your Vitality Today

Five Little Changes That Could Really Change Your Life How's your energy?

Maybe you're going through one of those "busy times" when it seems tough to maintain your personal health. Maybe you just took on a big project at work. Maybe you're getting a new business off the ground, or even dealing with some important things in your family life. And if two of these "stressors" hit at once, it can be very difficult not to slide into a pattern of poor health habits... yet these are the times during which you most need to be at your vital, energetic best!

You need to take personal responsibility to protect your vitality. Take charge today; make five commitments, even little ones, to new health habits that will help you take back your energy. The five most important habits I refer to as The NEWSS: Nutrition, Exercise, Water, Sleep, and Supplements.

When you're busy and/or stressed, your diet is often the first thing to go. These are the times people tend to eat for convenience more than nutrition, and often just to have something to comfort them when they're worried or anxious. Are you eating a lot of garbage these days? Make a commitment today to cut out one bad snack a day. Just one. If you have the time to find some real-food treat to replace it, like a piece of fresh fruit or some raw veggies, great. But simply refusing to eat that one bag of chips or drink that one can of pop per day is a good start.

It's also a cinch that you're not exercising regularly... not if you feel you don't have the time. How can you get your heart-rate at least a little higher for a few minutes each day? Eventually you want to get to a point where you've developed (or redeveloped) a strong habit of exercise, where at least five days a week you are raising your heart rate to its aerobic target (roughly 220 beats per minute minus your age) and keeping it there at least 15 minutes... as a minimum. Today, make a commitment to remind your body of what exercise feels like by taking the stairs instead of the elevator once a day, or parking at the far end of the parking lot and walking briskly into the office. Maybe you can grab ten or fifteen minutes to take a fast walk at lunchtime, before you eat. Whatever you choose, make a commitment. Build it into your daily routine.

The easiest commitment to make is a commitment to good hydration. Most people need two liters of water a day... so just get a half-liter water bottle and make a commitment today to fill and drain it four times throughout your day.

Some people don't think sleep belongs on this list. "I'll sleep when I'm dead," I've heard people quip. Sure, when you're a hard-charging leader or entrepreneur you don't spend a lot of time sleeping... but I bet you've realized during hectic times that you're not getting enough sleep. This is actually one of the most crucial health habits, and definitely belongs on the list. Your body must recharge, and it's often lack of sleep that causes your body's chemical make-up (especially regarding cortisol) to start creating bad things like bloating and weight-gain. Once you get a bad disease, you may not be able to sleep your way back to wellness; but sleep definitely helps your body keep from developing illnesses. Make a commitment to add 30 minutes a night to your sleep time. If you can get an extra hour, that's even better. Eventually you will need at least eight hours a night, but today, commit to that extra half-hour, whatever it takes. If you can't set your alarm for half-an-hour later, get to bed earlier. It might help to take a natural sleep aid (such as Valerian herb) to help you maximize the amount of time you spend actually sleeping.

Finally, make a commitment to supplement your body with the things your hectic lifestyle isn't providing. You need vitamins. I recommend a liquid nutraceutical that has everything you need and is very easy for your body to absorb and use. Even if it means just taking a store-bought multi-vitamin, get something, and commit to taking it every day (or with every meal).

Stress can be a killer, but we need to acknowledge that it's also a necessary part of life. To put it bluntly, you don't get paid NOT to have stress in your life. Part of why you haul down the big bucks is that you do get paid, in a manner of speaking, for stressing yourself. So accept that, and then work on the five habits you need to add to your day to make sure you live long enough to enjoy the fruits of your labor! There's plenty to worry about in today's world, from the global economy to political changes to the simple day-to-day stress of running a household. But if you make a commitment - even a small one - to change the five NEWSS habits in your own day, you can take back the energy you need to handle it all.

This is your opportunity to make the most important decision you will ever make. Forget your past. Who are you now? Who have you decided you really are now? Don't think about who you have been. Who are you now? Who have you decided to become? Make this decision consciously. Make it carefully. Make it powerfully. regards, Mal.

The easier the order process, the more orders you will get. Make sure your payment pages are secured. If you accept payment online, it is [/quote:1y6il6zm] *This* is very good advice. I went to a site a couple of weeks ago to order a DVD, an independent movie, and instead of having Paypal, I had to jump through hoops to sign up for their payment system. It would have taken me more minutes than I cared to spend, so I just didn't bother!
Re: Social media question Re: Social media question - Rachel, I recommend creating a fan page for Facebook you can link your twitter account to your fan page so your tweets show up on Facebook. In addition you can add a welcome page to your Facebook page where your fans can opt in for a free report, newsletter or CD. This will help you build your customer list. I find Facebook to be more interactive than twitter, but they are both powerful social media sites. (Make sure your branding matches on both sites.) As far as your tweets or content you should post - I recommend whatever is relevant for your business. For example - our business is women supporting women in business, relationships and vitality. We post topics that focus on women's issues. Today we posted the question "If your partner wants you to stop pursuing your dreams of being an entrepreneur because they feel it will hurt your relationship, should you?" As a result we've received a lot of feedback which is what you are looking for - interaction with your fans (clients). I hope this helps Kristi Executive Housewives
