Progressivism Isn't Progress, VI

They Seek To "Progress" Your Expectations Backward As an inspirational leader, as an entrepreneur, as a self-reliant ambassador of personal responsibility, you should make some moves now to prepare yourself (and your family) for the storm now brewing in the economic skies around you. You should keep political pressure on the liberal government, move your investments away from stocks and toward things like precious metals, start a business (even if it's just a side-line), and get smart about the global conspiracy against wealth.

In weather, storms are created when two opposite "systems" collide - hot and cold, high-pressure and low-pressure, etc. In the economy, a different kind of storm is brewing as "progressivism" collides with the Constitutional principles upon which America (as well as the global free economy) was founded. Experts say things will get a lot worse before they get better, because the likely result of this collision will be the collapse of the free-market economy and a new American experiment in collective statism.

Previous pieces in this series have detailed progressivism, its roots and aims, and the great "progress" progressives have made in America. Essentially, progressivism is the slow-boil method by which collectivists (socialists, communists, liberals, etc.) seek to wrest power away from the people and free markets and rest it in the hands of a centralized, all-powerful government administrative state. America's Founders believed "That government is best which governs least"... the statists disagree. They see government as the solution to every problem, and seek to replace the capitalist "one percent" with a government "one percent." The difference between the two one-percents, though, is that under the free-market system installed by the Founders, any of us with the required imagination and industry can join the top one-percent... under statism, membership is exclusive to our government "masters." That's the way it always ends up, whether the statism begins with the sort of revolutionary "bang" they had in the Soviet Union and Communist China, or with the sort of evolutionary "leak" currently being executed in the United States.

One of the big ways the progressives seek your support is to continuously adjust your expectations downward - your expectations of prosperity and abundance, of lifestyle, of enjoying the fruits of honest labor, of a long and happy life itself. They constantly bombard you with messages about how unfair all of those things are, and how evil it supposedly is that some enjoy prosperous lives while others don't. What they don't include in their messaging is that life is inherently unfair, that opportunity is equal (with freedom) but outcome is not, and that there will still be winners and losers in their envisioned Utopia - but the winners will all be government officials.

Eventually, America will throw off this idea. But first, things may have to reach a full-crisis boiling point before the statism becomes so unpleasant that the sleeping giant of America's love for freedom will finally awaken. Meanwhile, since it's the American entrepreneurial spirit that will lead us as we "level up" our liberty and prosperity, the time is now to make your preparations for being part of that leadership.

The victim-types out there will continue to sing as directed by their progressive masters the song of hatred toward the "one percent." Don't join them. Instead, stick to your personal values, roll up your sleeves, and join the next one percent. They don't realize it, but the future of everyone, including those full-throated victims, depends on you and your entrepreneurial spirit.
