Taking Exception To America

What Makes You Think You're So Special? Last fall, thanks to those barbaric tea partiers, America started trying to get all uppity again. Progressives, who'd waited and nudged for a century, had finally taken over the government and installed an Apologist In Chief to slap this country back down into its place. But just as the blame-America-first community was getting organized, and things like health care and financial "reform" had been rammed through, here comes this new Congress with its crazy old ideas about strength and prosperity. How dare they?

President Obama famously said he believed in American exceptionalism in the same way Brits believe in British exceptionalism, and the Irish believe in Irish exceptionalism, etc. Of course, if everyone's exceptional, no one is... which I think was the president's point. There's nothing special about you Americans! Sit down and shut up!

Wait. I guess he does see one thing that sets America apart: we are bad, and need to be apologized for. All those decades when we thought we were exceptional, we were wrong. If there's anything exceptional about America, the president seems to reckon, it's that we're the worst thing going these days.

Case in point: the president, contrary to what his critics say (yes, he does have critics, you just never hear from them), definitely wants energy exploration. He has encouraged lots of it, even deep-water drilling! Is that news to you drill-baby-drill rabble rousers? Well, get a clue: President Obama wants everyone to drill, baby... except America. For instance, last year, far-left puppetmaster George Soros made a huge investment (the second biggest in his vast wealth empire) in Brazil's state-owned oil company, Petrobras. Then, as if on cue (but I'm no conspiracy theorist), there was a horrible deep-water spill in U.S. Gulf waters, giving Obama cover to shut down deep-water drilling by Petrobras' main competitors in the U.S. He ordered energy experts to study the shut-down... they disagreed with it... so his staff simply changed what they'd written and proclaimed the experts had OK'd the shut down. All those energy jobs went overseas, and then the president loaned two billion (with a "bill") bucks to - you guessed it - Petrobras! To drill in deep (twice as deep) water! And sell the oil to us!

Seems the message is that anyone can drill EXCEPT America. Addressing other countries, our government is all like, "Drill, Baby, Drill... 'cause we never will!"

Of course, encouraging other countries to do our drilling for us not only makes us their captive customers (killing our economy), but, because U.S. exploration technology is vastly superior in terms of environmental safety than anybody else's, moving the drills overseas actually endangers the very environment the Demediacrat regulations purport to protect. But if you point that out (or even ask questions about it), well, you're just a - a dirty rotten tea partier! You're probably a racist, a terrorist, or maybe even a business owner!

No, if we're exceptional, the president warns that it's not in a good way. He doesn't really believe in American exceptionalism... he just takes exception to America.

And for a growing majority, the feeling's mutual.

Taking a year out to try and start your own business is a great idea. Taking a year out after college is a well established option so I guess it doesn't prejudice your chances of getting a job should you wish to do so later on; it probably improves your chances if you've been getting valuable experience of managing a business and of course, if all goes well, you won't need to find out. Re: looking for experienced affiliate feedback - Hi Chris, That's a great tip. The real benefit to running an affiliate marketing is getting other people to promote your business for you. Taking a pro-active approach as you suggest will certainly help.
Finding creativity - Great topic Andy! For me it's: - Going for a walk (I always try to get out at least once during the day) - Taking a shower - Reading business magazines (especially Inc and Business 2.0) - Late at night (I'm more productive / creative at night than during the day) - Relaxing with a drink at the bookstore
Money never sleeps - Money never sleeps. This is one of the good attributes of money. So when we are busy sleeping money still roams the atmosphere looking for whom we grab it. In Forex market, 3 thrillion dollars are been traded daily. When you are sleeping in America, the Australian are in business. This is why Bill Bates is one of the richest man in the world. As customers are sleeping in America, customers in other part of the world like Australia are still buying and downloading his software. The moral of this post is that,we should bo business that is on autopilot. Whether we sleeps or not money is been paid into our bank acount. Please share your thought on this.
Re: Let Your Employees Nap At Work - Taking a nap in between working hours does help but however, I don't think a lot of companies will allow that. Mostly are related to safety concern. The place where I work at is definitely a no-no even though it is an office environment. But however, instead of a nap, will not allow the employees to engage in relaxing activities like reading the newspaper or even reading the news online, having a chit-chat at the pantry or even a simple dart game.
