'Tis The Season For Relaxation
Take A Breath Now, Before Renewing Your Health Habits
We're in the middle of the week between the holidays. Most Americans are enjoying lighter work schedules this week, and a festive mood at home. That's a blessing, and you should take full advantage of it.
Back in the day, when I was serving with the U.S. 82nd Airborne Division in peace time, they used to give us what they called the "half day schedule" this time of year. Instead of the usual long days of hard work, they told us to work half days during the week between Christmas and New Year's Day... just 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., with a full half of the 24-hour day left for rest and relaxation.
In truth, we really did work only about six hours a day, and that seems pretty typical for a lot of businesses and agencies this time of year. Most customers of most businesses are just in relaxation mode here at the end of the year.
You can take advantage of the extra time to work harder on your home business, or to work harder on your personal vitality by increasing your time at the gym. If those choices work out for you, great.
On the other hand, if you've had a tough year, feel free to relax and enjoy this last week of 2010. Grant yourself some down time. Give yourself permission to breathe and relax, summoning your strength and energy for a renewed vitality campaign after the first of the year. Starting next week, renew your efforts at The NEWSS, the five key daily health habits (Nutrition, Exercise, Water, Sleep, and Supplements). Meanwhile, you can still do the easy stuff: drink plenty of water, and take your vitamins.
Here's wishing you a happy and healthy new year... and a nice break in the meantime!
