Unconstitutional Obamacare Law Declared "Void"
But Don't Leave Your Vitality To Chance
More than half of the U.S. states challenged the liberal Democrats' "Obamacare" law in federal court, asserting the law's mandate requiring all citizens to buy health insurance is unconstitutional. Last week, a federal judge in Florida agreed. Since the entire legislative monstrosity depends vitally on that mandate, the judge went on to say the entire law is "void."
Eventually the Supreme Court will decide who's right. That mandate is indeed central to liberals' philosophy of health care reform, since it leads inexorably to the government's power to shut down the free market in health care and insurance and replace it with government-run medicine (a long-sought goal of the U.S. Left and collectivists everywhere). Conservatives agree our health care system could use improvement, but believe fixes to our free-market system are the way to go. After all, they argue, the free market is what made the existing U.S. medical system the most advanced ever known.
But the liberals would rather shred the free market system and execute a government takeover of health care in America. It is unconstitutional - the dizzying intellectual rationalizations required to see the mandate as aligned with Congress' power to regulate interstate commerce is a legal version of the sort of overreach for which the current left-dominated federal government is famous. But that didn't stop them from passing it. Parliamentary procedures long honored by both parties in Congress prohibited the legislation from being passed the way it was. But that didn't stop them. Poll after poll has shown that Americans oppose the legislation approximately two-to-one. But that didn't stop them.
Luckily for Americans, our system of checks-and-balances does provide us with some protection from such overreaching liberal shenanigans. The Supreme Court is the check against the other two branches of government in this case, and the Court should agree with the judge in last week's ruling that declared Obamacare unconstitutional But given the sharp divide between left and right - and the narrow margin - in today's Supreme Court, it's far from a sure bet.
If Obamacare stands, it will take a few years, but you will lose the opportunity you now have for excellent medical care. It's just a simple fact that government cannot run a nationwide health care system as well as the free market can (it's been proven everywhere it's been tried), and the ultimate losers will be the patients.
So don't leave your very health and vitality up to the government! You need your energy to weather the coming economic storm (which will make the current downturn seem like the salad days). So take personal responsibility for your health habits. Focus on improving yourself in the five key areas I call The NEWSS: Nutrition, Exercise, Water, Sleep, and Supplements. Eat good food, and cut out the garbage. Get your heart rate up for a few minutes every day. Drink two liters of water daily. Get your eight hours in the sack. And take at least one good multi-nutrient supplement, every single day.
Once you have those habits under control, do a daily breathing exercise. Get yourself checked every month - take your blood pressure as a minimum, and think about a monthly chiropractic adjustment. And, twice or more each year, do a good fast-and-cleanse to clean out your system and boost your vitality and energy.
It's up to you to stay healthy... government medicine is not going to help you! They used to say an apple a day kept the doctor away. These days it takes discipline with a few key daily health habits to keep the doctor - or rather, the federal medical bureaucracy - away from your health care. Eventually, we all age, and we'll all need medical care at some point. Given what that care is likely to be like by the time you and I must rely on it, it's just good common sense to do everything we can to delay that day, and to live vital, full lives in the meantime.
