Wealth Building Depends On Low Taxes

Guest post by: Michael Hume

Article Overview: The hue and cry in American society today is "tax the rich." Some on the left even screech "Eat the rich!" The collectivist/statists currently running the U.S. government continue to barrel down the road of high taxes and high spending, encouraging class envy, and putting America firmly on a path toward confiscatory taxation. And they, along with their sycophants in the media, never seem to run out of fools who can be persuaded that this is the correct course for the country....

Wealth Building Depends On Low Taxes

Government Can't Create Wealth, But Destroys It In the 1950s, long before he was president, Ronald Reagan was one of the most sought-after public speakers in America. In those days, he used to be fond of telling an "updated" version of the old children's tale, "The Little Red Hen."

In Reagan's version, as in the original, Hen finds some seed in the barnyard and points out that, if planted, the seed will grow into wheat and that the animals can make bread to eat. You remember how the rest goes: whenever she asks her friends for help in harvesting the wheat, grinding the flour, making the dough, or baking the bread, the other animals decline. As Reagan told it, the reasons they gave often sounded like things you'll still hear today: "It's not my union classification" ... "I'll lose my benefits" ... "I can't put in any more overtime," etc.

So Hen did it all herself.

When she had a half-dozen nice loaves of bread finished, in the future president's update, the other animals not only wanted to help her eat the bread, they demanded loaves for themselves. When she declined, they cried foul in ways that would sound familiar to anyone who's exposed to the mainstream media (or government spokespersons) these days: "Greed!" ... "Excessive profits!" ... "Capitalist money grubbing!"

Hen's "friends" told on her, and the government stepped in. She was forced to share her loaves with the other animals. "But I earned these myself," she protested. The government agent simply told her that was the beauty of the free market - any animal in the barnyard was free to earn as much as they want. However, the agent said, under our system of government regulation, the productive must not be greedy. They must share their product with the idle.

"And they all lived happily ever after," Reagan would conclude, "though Hen's neighbors sometimes wondered why she never made any more bread."

The hue and cry in American society today is "tax the rich." Some on the left even screech "Eat the rich!" The collectivist/statists currently running the U.S. government continue to barrel down the road of high taxes and high spending, encouraging class envy, and putting America firmly on a path toward confiscatory taxation. And they, along with their sycophants in the media, never seem to run out of fools who can be persuaded that this is the correct course for the country.

Perhaps adherents to the collectivist philosophy should take another look at the ol' Little Red Hen parable. The union bosses among them, in particular, should get their hands on Reagan's version. The course they favor will make it increasingly difficult to build weatlh, protect families' future security, start and run a business (and equip that business), and employ and feed the nation. Could the rich be blamed if they suddenly stopped trying to do those things? And what would happen then to the dolts who fell in love with the tax-and-spend statism that caused the problem in the first place?

If you're one of those collectivists, good luck eating the rich. You have no idea how to make any bread, you aren't preparing yourself for the coming famine by learning how (or planting any seeds), and once you've eaten the Little Red Hen, your next meal will be very hard to come by.

Type of business with building Type of business with building - If you owned a building and Wal-Mart was opening its doors across the street in a previously unoccupied area (along with 12-14 small shops), what type of business would you start? Here are the considerations: 1. Money is a non-factor 2. Building is fairly large (10,000) square feet 3. Building is on the corner of a busy intersection (about to get much busier)
Re: Should you hire ambitious workers or employees with no goals Re: Should you hire ambitious workers or employees with no goals - Depends on the work you need done. Are there time limits, deadlines, etc.. Or is it like a security guard job where they have to sit and watch a monitor? If you giving them important tasks then I'd take ambitious employees any day of the week.
Re: Social media sites for link building? Re: Social media sites for link building? - Depends which ones you use. Some like Squidoo and hubpages are dofollow. Social bookmarking sites are sometimes dofollow right away while others are nofollow until they become popular.
I do wear a Tie...but I do wear a Tie...but - Depends on the occasion. If I am meeting clients I will always wear one and if we go out for drinks after I will mimic my clients. e.g. if they don't wear a tie after work and just a jacket I will do the same. If they just loosen their tie and unbutton the first button I will do the same. It relaxes the relationship and demonstrates we can communicate comfortably.
Re: How do you get your clients? Re: How do you get your clients? - Depends on the type of business and whether online or offline Since we are online, I get my clients from Social business networks where relationships can be built and sale. When you think about it, and like it or not, social business network friends and members are LEADS After that comes blogs, articles, forums, etc
