When Mars Attacks, The Economy Roars!

If Only We Could Be Threatened By Space Aliens When I was a student at the Graduate School of Public Administration (our school colors were red and more red; our motto, "Sempre Turfbuildus"), they made us study the works of major geniuses in such fields as economics and massive government. One of the chief geniuses in both fields was Paul Krugman, who was an advisor to President Clinton (and now claims President Obama among his adherents).

Anyway, the other day I heard this super-genius on the radio contraption, talking about his brilliant plans for getting the U.S. economy out of the mire in which it currently finds itself. Never mind that Mr. Krugman and his ilk (and oh, what a massive ilk he has these days!) are the very geniuses who took a thriving economy and buried it in said muck. What's important is that only geniuses of his caliber can do the high-powered thinking (and central planning) needed to pull us out.

We used to say that when something was on fire, the first thing you do is remove the fire's fuel. You put a lid on it to cut the oxygen. At the very least, Bubba, you stop squirting lighter fluid out of that can you keep by the grill. But in the world of Krugman-like geniuses, lighter fluid is precisely what you use to fight fire. Must be; because more big government debt and spending are their preferred tools for fighting this debt-spending-caused economic disaster.

On the radio, I heard Krugman say that, if only we could become convinced that space aliens were going to attack us, and that a massive defense build-up were needed to repel the attack - even if we later found out that there was no alien threat and then dismantled all the weapons - we'd be out of this recession in eighteen months. He wasn't joking.

Hmm. Several problems with this "genius." First, aren't the Demediacrats of Mr. Krugman's afforementioned ilk in favor of any spending EXCEPT defense? Second, didn't they say the recession (which is still over, by the way) was CAUSED by all that war-mongering in Iraq and Afghanistan? And third, doesn't the money for such a buildup have to come from soaking the market economy, and until somebody actually produces and sells something, it's just recycled (redistributed) wealth... and no new wealth gets created?

More likely, when Mars attacks, they'll find themselves welcomed by the ilk. They'll be given free housing, medical care, and in-state tuition. They won't have any trouble at all from the Krugmans of this country... unless they join the tea party, of course.

I think it's possible that the space aliens attacked stealthily, years ago, and have already melted the brains of the geniuses who are running this country... into the ground.

Re: Differences between men and women entrepreneurs Re: Differences between men and women entrepreneurs - I appreciate what you've shared, Wendy. I understand what you mean about men needing a sounding board that they usually don't get from other men. I can't help but wonder if this is society that teaches them to hold their tongue and be brave to one another, while all along, they would conquer even greater enemies if they had that extra support from one another. No wonder executive coaching has given such great results in the business world. As far as the cave, I've been known to retreat to my own cave when I've gone into self protection mode. However, I would say I've experienced more "Venus" than "Mars". We may have some general gender differences, but each one of us is unique and special in our own way. This is why I feel that each one of us needs to focus on succeeding at being ourselves and not try to fit into anyone else's box. The reason I brought up this thread about what makes us women different is because some women find it a relief to hear that they are not the only women who struggle in the ways we've talked about.

My ambition at this stage of my life(being formally retired),isn't like when I was younger, and accomplished a lot,'way beyond my ltd. means', as I met with a lot of small and big successes,as I didn't had the luxarious option of losing or failing,in order to survive,I had to'make it'. In today's USA Economy and it's negative implications on all of retirees(pensioners) and disabled folks, It became vital to be able to function with some amount of success...or face hunger,if not worse,in the USA we have a 'nation' of homeless folks, that are unaided.most of them are either disabled,or 'senior citizens',or both. so failure is not an option, currently I live in Southern California, which is controlled by an inhumane and dishonest Reublican governor, that cut income from both disabled, and the aged disabled(With false excuses) .while cost of subsisting here is skyrocketing without price controls.so any ltd. additional income is a 'blessings'.Our country economy,as the whole world is already aware is continue to fall,(I was extremely surprised, like many others) that our country borrowed huge amounts not only from its allies(like the UK of GB, UAE,Kuwait etc.) but also from the P.R. of China(ain't it amazing,it's the greatest 'accomplishment' of the previous Bush administtration),It was done prior to our current wonderful president Obama times,But Obama administration was really honest and transparent about these facts, and additionally acted in the best interests of our country, and improved our country situation so dramatically,so at least we're hopefull. The Praises that our current administration deserves are long.Folks like me try to cease any opportunity to survive ,I'm not aiming to'make a killing' but just survive the onslought ,and 'so far so good',I already started on my own to reach to local pro.(professional)folks, that I had the pleasure to know, and there are real hopes,I already sold on my own 1st ltd. batch of 'virgin'(only one time used) 'empties' (Empty ink cartridges),and even earn already a minor sum of 'income',and time'll tell.My honest belief is just as long as one could act rationally there 're hopes for positive results. Thanks for support and advice,I may put the website into my signature a little later, meanwhile ,I'm so busy just 'to keep my head above waters'.Thanks again.
