Your Vitality Is Your Personal Responsibility

Don't Wait To Be "Cared" For A recent study by a major consultancy found that 30% of Americans will lose their health coverage once Obamacare is fully implemented. The Wall Street Journal, interpreting the study, estimates 78 million people will suddenly find themselves without medical care and totally dependent upon the government.

In other words, as often happens with the grand schemes of government, Obamacare will have exactly the opposite effect of that for which it was intended (and by which it was "sold"). Instinctively, Americans know this (probably because they've seen it time and time again)... and that's why a majority of U.S. voters have been against Obamacare since before it was rammed down our throats by an over-reaching statist government.

Opponents of the measure often warned of extremely negative consequences of the massive legislation. They said the president's promises that you'd be able to keep your current plan (and doctor) would be proven false. They worried that care would be "rationed," like it is in other socialized-medicine countries such as the United Kingdom, and that people would die while waiting for surgeries and other treatments. They said pharmaceutical research would dumb-down, doctors would be less brilliant and in short supply, and the overall quality of the world's greatest (though imperfect) medical system would sharply decline.

That stuff hasn't all happened yet, but last week's study does suggest that it's possible. Let's just look at what's happened already, before full implementation of the "reform." The president, and others in his party, promised you'd be able to keep your coverage... the new study says that, for 78 million patients, that's not accurate. They estimated Obamacare would save money... within a few days of its "passage," the government itself reversed that estimate, and most experts now say the law will be prohibitively expensive. Labor unions and lobbyists pushed for the bill... hundreds of them have now been granted waivers so that they don't have to suffer the significant downside of the legislation. And you don't have to be a genius to see that research dollars have started to dry up, medical school enrollments have plummeted, and the best-and-brightest are looking to non-medical industries as they embark on their professional careers.

What this all means to you is this: you have to take personal responsibility for your own health. Get your act together, and start with the five key daily health habits I call The NEWSS: Nutrition (start by cutting out the processed garbage we're all tempted to eat), Exercise (get at least three good workouts a week, and six would be better), Water (drink two liters every day), Sleep (get your eight hours every night), and Supplements (try some good liquid nutraceuticals that give your body what it can't otherwise get these days).

You need your energy to run your business, take care of your family, investigate new wealth-building strategies, and live your life to the fullest. Don't assume for a second that government medicine will take care of you as you approach your sunset years. Since a pound of cure will not be available to you at any price, you need all the ounces of prevention you can get.
