Can you imagine your financial statements lying on a therapist's couch, seeking for advise on how to gain greater strength to face the market? They may appear perplexed and bewildered, not understanding why the numbers are so anemic or even what they mean. Many small businesses experience this. From my experience, a large portion of business owners have poor financial management. Did they make a profit? Then nothing more needs to be examined. If no, head scratching begins. The financial statements contain a wealth of information for managing the business. They must be closely scrutinized for the business to be successful. Not only that, but financial management includes so much more: sound practices, planning, markets analysis, objectives, and cash flow analysis.

Is strategic planning for large businesses only which has the resources to perform it? Not in the least. A business, regardless of size, which does not engage in strategic planning gives up a valuable tool for growing the business and answering the question, "Where do you want to grow tomorrow?"

Now that you have written your business plan, what next? You have to sell it! Yes as a business owner with the next best idea, you have just become a sales person. You may have thought, “But I’m the thought leader and must develop the product/services for the market. Your business plan must be a persuasive document that catches the lender's eyes and thoughts in the first 30 seconds. The first couple of sentences must grab his attention and beg him to read further. You must get the lender to say "Ah ha!"
