Find Your Own Super Power to Increase Business Efficiency

When you're a small business owner if you’re spending time doing the things that you love the most, your “Super Powers” if you will, then you’ll find that business efficiency will naturally follow. For everything else that doesn’t fit into this category, it’s time to delegate.

As entrepreneurs we’re often working on our own and it’s up to us to make sure that everything gets done and is rolling along smoothly. But in reality, you can’t be good at everything. Some tasks you love to do, some tasks you do because you have to, and others you simply don’t even know where to start. How frustrating!

I believe the best tactic for any small business owner is to figure out what it is that you like doing the most. Why did you start up this small business in first place? What did you envision that you’d be spending your time doing? Often when we start our businesses we quickly realize that there is a lot more that we have to do in order to keep things running, let alone growing, and eventually we can start to lose focus.

So, think back to the last time you felt really great and had lots of energy while you were working, and then notice exactly what it was you were doing at that time. This is your Super Power! This is what gives you energy, what you really enjoy doing, and it comes so easy to you that time just flies by and you can accomplish amazing things. Of course if we’re doing something we like, we’ll get it done faster, better, easier, etc.

On the other hand, think back to the last time you were feeling heavy and reluctant to do something, and take note of what this task is. There could be more than one of course. Make a list of these things. These are definitely not your Super Powers. Tackling these tasks is a slog and drains your energy – who wants that? These tasks are your kryptonite, and you most certainly are not increasing your business efficiency when you’re working on these.

But as much fun as only working with your Super Powers sounds, these other tasks really do need to be done in order to keep your business running. Or do they? Chances are if you sit down with an efficiency expert you may be able to eliminate some of these tasks from your plate altogether. Hooray! Or if they can’t be completely eliminated, then certainly there could be a better way of doing them so that they are more streamlined, more efficient, and therefore taking up less of your time. It may even be the best solution to delegate these tasks to someone else entirely like a trusted Virtual Assistant.

I challenge everyone to improve their business efficiency by discovering their own Super Powers!

My name is Sarah MacGregor a.k.a. SMac and I am a Canadian Virtual Assistant, CEO of SMac To The Rescue, and Efficiency Expert who teaches small business owners and entrepreneurs how to increase their business efficiency and get unstuck.  I officially started out as a Virtual Assistant (VA) in 2007. Being insanely organized and an uber planner SMac To The Rescue started off with a bang and it just keeps growing, having now evolved into a Multi-VA practice.

It wasn't long before I realized that some things that seemed like common sense to me were in fact a real struggle for other business owners, and so I naturally fell into the role of breaking down projects into manageable pieces, coaching business owners on how to become more efficient, and bascially coming to the rescue of every solopreneur that crosses my path! I love it when my geekiness perfectly compliments a client's business gaps.

I used to be (and still am) a coding geek - are you a geek too? Let's chat! Love cats? Me too! I will ooh and aah about cats any chance I get. Like to dance? Teach dance? Watch dance of all kinds? Bring it on! I've tried so many different kinds of dance and a few have become my lifelong passions.

Re: Super Mario Dethroned Re: Super Mario Dethroned - You people are crazy. Super Mario will NEVER be dethroned! Vive la Mario & Luigi! I'm sorry, but remembering those days playing Super Maria for Nintendo and wondering when I would finally hit the last level and be able to beat the evil dragon for my perfect princess will never die. Wii is fantastic, but I'd still prefer the rights to Mario - if even for sentimental value.
Women Entrepreneur Tips Women Entrepreneur Tips - Thank you LeoOliveros, I found #4 particularly true in my case: 4. The Enterprise Must Include the Power of Power Networks. As a conductor of your own enterprise, you can not see yourself as a one-woman-show. You must choose to utilize the power people in your life, by asking for help when you need it, and effectively delegating in order to capitalize on your strengths and that of your power network. When certain experts are not represented in your power network, you must actively seek advisors or mentors and develop a team of specialists, so the benefits are received by everyone involved in the power network - the true Power of Power Networks.

The Power of Ten The Power of Ten - Do you want to save money and time? Make the most of your marketing efforts? The Power of Ten™ is about taking the concepts of repurposing and leveraging “to the max”. It allows you to innovate and discover new possibilities for any marketing you already have in place. Here’s how it works: Make a list of the most recent 10 marketing items you’ve created or paid to have created. If you don’t have any materials, you can simply list the pieces you plan on creating. Now pick one. It could be an article, ad, poster, anything you have used recently as a marketing tool. Take a fresh look at it. Brainstorm and free write until you find at least 10 different ways to use that piece. You can do this with as many pieces as you want, but for now start with just one. It’s amazing how much time, effort and money you can save using The Power of Ten™. Below is an example using The Power of Ten™ with this very article. Even a very short piece, such as this, can benefit from The Power of Ten™. Here are some ways I can use this tip: 1) It’s part of a new marketing program I’m creating that may be called Marketing Full Circle. 2) It’s on my blog. 3) I can tweet it (knowing that it will show up on LinkedIn and many other sites which display tweets). 4) I can go over to LinkedIn and post it to a group. 5) I can it to my ezine subscribers. 6) I will send it to my clients. 7) If it is a longer article, I can try submitting it to an Article Bank, or two, or three. It started out as part of an answer on Focus.com 9) Eventually it will be part of an eBook on marketing tips. 10) I mention the concept often at speaking engagements.
