What is Your Signature Style Communicating About You?

Guest post by: Tonya Jarad

Article Overview: It is a known fact that we only have a brief moment (7 seconds) to make a positive first impression before we are judged not only on our physical appearance, but also the type of person we may or may not be. As such, having a refined, polished image can effectively communicate to society who you are, and what you represent. Whether it is being a professional businesswoman, or savvy entrepreneur.

What is Your Signature Style Communicating About You?

When we think about classic Hollywood actresses such as Audrey Hepburn, Dorothy Dandridge, Grace Kelly, Lena Horne and public icons such as Jackie Kennedy and Michelle Obama our first impression is one of elegance, poise and individuality. Each of these women have successfully carved out their very own signature style that is representative of their personality, inner beauty and confidence in knowing what silhouettes, and accessory pieces will enhance and complement their overall image from head to toe. However, having a signature style is much more than putting together a variety of accessory pieces, it has more to do with your authentic self rather than following the season's latest fashion trends. Your signature style should reflect your personality, and command attention when you enter or exit a room, whether it is filled with a crowd of people or just one person. The imprint your first impression should leave upon those meeting you for the first time should be one of respect, poise, and self-confidence.

It is a known fact that we only have a brief moment (7 seconds) to make a positive first impression before we are judged not only on our physical appearance, but also the type of person we may or may not . As such, having a refined, polished image can effectively communicate to society who you are, and what you represent. Whether it is being a professional businesswoman, or savvy entrepreneur. Your signature style should always stand apart from the crowd, and allow you to visually communicate your personal brand and values. Furthermore, it is important to note that revamping your style does not have to be expensive. Thus knowing how to incorporate classic, vintage or contemporary items that are reflective of your personality into your current wardrobe will definitely transition you from drab to fab!

As an image consultant I always base my style analysis on my clients personality, and current lifestyle as a way to enhance their overall appearance. It is important to incorporate these two elements into my personal style analysis because it is individualized and specific to my client's needs.

1. Consider Your Role - If you are a public figure you will want to have a consistent signature style that is bold enough to be noticed and remembered, but not over the top that your style choice takes way from you as the person. As such, you will want to choose items that are elegant and classy with a hint of flare. For example, Michelle Obama is known for her cinched waist dresses that are impeccably tailored, complemented by stylish colorful cardigans and signature necklaces or earrings; her makeup is neutral with subtly defined eyes, and always accompanied by a French manicure. She does well in balancing trends and making them into classic looks that work well with her personality and figure type.

2. Signature Accessory Pieces - Jackie Kennedy was a master at enhancing her unique signature style. Oleg Cassini once quoted her as being the "geometrical goddess " - Jackie Kennedy is known for her regal and elegant style choices. Her signature white pearls, dented pillar box hat, black over-sized sunshades and consistent color combination's, such as black and white, or red and white used interchangeably signified her as America's trend setting royalty. Although we are not living in the era of the 1960s, classic accessory pieces are great to incorporate in your wardrobe because they never lose its style factor.

3. Staple Items - Staple items are clothing pieces that are essential in building upon or used to accessorize with other items of clothing in your closet. For example, a sleek tailored black pant suit or cocktail dress is a must have staple item for any woman; whether you are in the corporate or artistic field a tailored suit and elegant black cocktail dress can be used interchangeably for any occasion. Audrey Hepburn is a great example of this signature style. The skinny, tailored black pant complemented by the ballerina flats has not lost its flare after all these years, also lets not forget LBD (litle black dress). The classic pant and elegant black dress are versatile, easy to accessorize and look fabulous with elegant jewellery and great handbag.

4. Choose Your Shoes Wisely - Sometimes we put so much effort into putting together a polished, refined outfit we sometimes forget to put the same amount of attention into our shoes. Worn down pair of heels that are scuffed can quickly take your signature style from classic elegance to sloppy and frumpy in seconds. Consider the total package, do your shoes complement your overall look. Historically, women shoes (i.e. heels) was a sign of social status, as such our shoes should strengthen our poise when we walk or stand in them, which in turn enhances our confidence and inner beauty.

Your signature style should always illuminate your personality, inner beauty and confidence. Finding or defining your signature style does not need to break your bank account, but understanding how to select signature pieces that complement you as an individual, and incorporating them into your wardrobe will enhance your style from the ordinary to the extraordinary.

These type of coding also increases website loading time so avoid it. You can also use external CSS "Cascading Style sheet" for placing images on website it will reduce website loading time.

It is a reference work that you can use to check on proper grammar (the difference between "then" and "than" and "affect" and "effect," for example, whether commas belongs inside or outside quotation marks, stuff like that.
Signatures can improve your Traffic Signatures can improve your Traffic - Don't forget that in addition to directories that you can post your business URL and details on that you can also utilize signatures in highly trafficed Forums - like this one. Except make sure that your Signature is keyword dense instead of your company's name and that the entire phrase is URL'd to your site. Thought I'd mention this one even though it may be obvious as we were talking about Traffic as well.
