The fine print of Groupons goes both ways.

Hiding extra conditions in small type is a surefire way to damage trust.

Be respectful about how the customer feels about fine print. Apply some empathy when creating your offer because you want to gain a favourable outcome that lasts not short-term cash injection. What you ideally want is a long-term happy customer who not only buys from you but refers their friends to you too.

By being clear about your terms and conditions and making those terms as reasonable as possible, you can avoid most of these negative sentiments. If you find that you cannot make a reasonable offer, perhaps it's best to use a non-discount strategy to get customers through your door.

There are also ways to make additional revenue from your coupon deal that are more open and honest and leave your customer feeling like you've given them exactly what they wanted.

Remember that there are many ways to increase your sales and profits, stay smart and keep servicing your customers to the best of your abilities. The rewards will follow.

Printers Printers - Here's another thing that annoys me. I've got an Epson CX6600 inkjet printer. Great little thing, prints photos and stuff crystal clear. Comes with four ink cartrdiges, black, and then cyan, magenta and yellow. And if any of those cartridges run out, you can't print until you put in a new one. So for the last week my magenta has been at 20%, and then at 10%, despite the fact I've only been printing in black and white. And now today it has run out - despite the fact that I haven't used that color for over 2 weeks! And all I want to do is print a black and white document so it shouldn't matter at all that I have no yellow... yellow doesn't come into the equation! But, nope, can't print. Some insidious or machiavellian plot to make people have to buy ink cartridges even if they don't want/shouldn't need them. I'm feeling really chapped!
Re: New Twitter Backgrond - thoughts? Re: New Twitter Backgrond - thoughts? - Hi Evan, I love the idea of using the EvanCarmichael's background on the left. I have no issues with FireFox on my PC, but at work I use IE8 and the main page is hiding the sidebar. But this is the problem with Twitter, it can look fine on one PC and not so fine on others, depend on the browser and computer resolution.
Re: Internet directories & other free marketing methods Re: Internet directories & other free marketing methods - I agree it's better for SEO purposes than traffic. However, I also find they are somewhat helpful with traffic if you stay on top of the Ad to keep it fresh and updated, some expire after one - three months time to make room for new Ads, so read the fine print to find out when or contact the owner of the site to find out how often they recommend you should update your Ad. Enter into a category that doesn't already have too many listings, and make sure it's a related category to your business so you can be found. If you are in a category with tons of listings, you may be better off signing up for the upgrade as opposed to the free listing, so your Ad appears on the first or 2nd page within that category. Like search engines, it's ideal to appear within the first few pages...No one is going to visit your ad if you are burried behid 100's of others that are going to be seen first.
Re: Are Business Owners too Old School to be Sold by a blog Re: Are Business Owners too Old School to be Sold by a blog -
We keep gathering more data on the subject each week - this week the blog performed much better than usual. I'm going to have to start designing some better tests - right now we have too many variables at once to produce any sensical data; our intentions were to market our new content, not to test the strength of the delivery mechanisms, so I guess I might need to revise our current modus operandi somewhat[/quote:ght5atd8] I know that if I want to print something out to keep or to use, I prefer having a PDF version, but for reading - either is fine. One issue I have with some blogs is too much "stuff" in the margins. It is very distracting and personally I've found that especially true for 3 column blogs. 2 column blogs look much more like a regular website layout. Chris
Re: skribit - new forum feature Re: skribit - new forum feature -
It looks fine on my IE - is anyone else having problems?[/quote:2253z7x3] On my laptop, also running IE, it also looks fine. My desktop computer is several years old and I've never bothered to upgrade the IE, so I suppose I might be the only one who sees it "off".
