International Asset Finance - The Options Available To Your Business

It may now be cheaper to source your assets and equipment from other countries rather than the traditional route of via the United Kingdom if you have a reputable supplier, orthey have aninternational presence. But what if the equipment you require costs too much to buy outright and so you instead would prefer to finance it. Some banks may offer internationalfinance options - most will book it at the current GBP rate in the forex market, pay the supplier in local currency at that current rateand then you have a standard business loan in GBP Sterling that you pay back as normal. In these instances it is important to get a good exchange rate as this will effect the total amount in GBP you will be repaying.

It is rare for UKasset finance providers to offer finance where the supplier is not based in the United Kingdom, especially in the current financial markets, so whilst it may be worth still exploring this option, you possibly stand more chance speaking with your bank for international finance requirements.

Those asset finance providers that will offer international finance may well look for additional security to ensure the risk element for them is minimal given the amount of fraud, as such you as the lessee are totally responsible for all the payments so you need to be sure you know exactly who you are dealing with when buying your equipment from abroad and using finance options.

I'll just add that if I was going into business for myself and could only have one skill it would be Sales & Marketing. You need to be able to create customers first and foremost. Finance is more of a support function for entrepreneurs.
