It's no mystery to us, that's for sure. Canadian and U.S. content owners and producers are taking the 'flight to safety' , using Canadian film tax credit financing for Ontario , BC, and quite frankly all Canadian geographies for their financing needs .

That is to say that your advance on the tax credit - typically anywhere from 50-70% (sometimes more) is simply netted against your final cheque from the government, less the financing costs. Almost always no additional collateral is required, although the promise to pay of your Special Purpose Vehicle for the project is of course required.

Re: Will North America make carbon taxes anytime soon? - Well I recently started to work at a solar company in Ontario, and business is booming. The Ontario government is doing a great deal since passing the Green Energy Act. This is where the government is buy the energy you produce. 80 cents for kwh. A lot of people in Ontario are putting up solar panels on their roofs, and feeding back the grid green energy.

I'll just add that if I was going into business for myself and could only have one skill it would be Sales & Marketing. You need to be able to create customers first and foremost. Finance is more of a support function for entrepreneurs.
