80/20 Principle in Entrepreneurship

Written by: Nuala Duignan

Article Overview: To work effectively and profitably in business our 20% input of work should yield 80% output. 1. Where is the 20% input in your daily work either at home or in business that returns 80% rewards? 2. What has to happen in your business to pay attention and focus on that best 80% return? We should act on what inspires us. Sometimes unknown to ourselves, there is a power in us greater than our resistance. Because of this we should feed our inspiration and starve our resistance. Do not rob the world of what you have to share.

80/20 Principle in Entrepreneurship

A Confused attitude will always say no.

There must a clarity in our purpose in life, not a wandering generality but a meaningful specific. To work effectively and profitably in business our 20% input of work should yield 80% output. We can compare human beings sometimes with cycling a bicycle. "if you are not going somewhere you fall over"! Do you know where you are going? When we cannot see where we are going we become paralysed. To every event we respond we have an influence because we have control in our response.

If we ever study the black clouds when rain is on its way, observe the light trying to make it's way through. Referring to the 80/20 principle, for something you are currently doing stop now and consider:

  1. Where is the 20% input in your daily work either at home or in business that returns 80% rewards?
  2. What has to happen in your business to pay attention and focus on that best 80% return?
  3. What is your first action towards making your 80% a reality? Allocate time to look at this now.
Values

Have you ever considered what your highest value is?

Fulfillment of your highest values inspires your whole being. Highest in some people's list is their spiritual path, that which has most meaning for the individual. There's LIVING and there's LIFE. Your body will respond in a negative way (dis-ease) when you are not responding to your highest value. Doing things which are not responding to your strongest values or talents are deluding your productivity. It is the same as not doing the work you were born to do. What you see in your mind, your body will respond to. Your positive philosophy will accumulate. Your life will be proportional to your gratitude. You can live in the brightness of your future or you can choose to live in the darkness of the past. Positivity and gratitude give life! The greater the volatility of your living the shorter your life. "Exercise your Life"! When you specialise in something you love you are growing your skill. You are then going to be enthusiastic about what you do. Remember to Do what you Love and Love what you do.

It is up to ourselves to keep on discovering our "wells of inspiration". We must give time and energy to witnessing some form of beauty each and every day (it's all around us). We should act on what inspires us. Sometimes unknown to ourselves, there is a power in us greater than our resistance. Because of this we should feed our inspiration and starve our resistance. Do not rob the world of what you have to share.

What's your Calling? What's your Calling? - I was watching BIOgraphy channel last night and they were showcasing Fidel Castro. Fidel at a very young age new he was destined to be an icon of leadership. Through his experiences and risks he took he created this space for himself to enter. To the Young entrepreneurs here - what was your calling into Entrepreneurship? what compelled you to believe that this area of education and adventure was your calling? Was it the media? Was it Family? Was it the lemonade stand you started and while earning those quarters say to yourself "imagine if I had two of these stands - I'd make twice as much!" I'd like to know...
