The Entrepreneur Sees Positivity in the Face of Adversity

Written by: Nuala Duignan

Article Overview: Personal power is an inner awareness that makes us feel in control of our lives. It is an inner knowledge that we can achieve our goals, a calm conviction about who we are and our ability to get the things we want in life. Why not begin today, decide on those goals. Put that Business Plan down on paper and begin with “baby steps” in achieving the various stages towards that new business.

The Entrepreneur Sees Positivity in the Face of Adversity

Frightening news always gets exaggerated by the media. Fear is a means of persuasion and enslavement. These days the news is littered with blazing headlines forecasting the worst recession in 30 years, maybe even a Depression?

Are you allowing the media enslave or persuade you into Doom and Gloom mindset?
Key Questions
• Do you say every day “If I had more time or money I’d have more scope to start my own business” We do like to tell ourselves these stories but they are seldom true! It is how we view our lives that determines the type of people we are. Why not begin now looking on the positive side.
• Do you want to remain in a “powerless mindset”? “The life which is not examined is a life not worth living”
Powerless individuals feel helpless, negative and lethargic. Sometimes, even frustrated and resentful. Powerless individuals often live in fear, enslaved by circumstances they perceive as beyond their control”
The opposite of powerless is an inner awareness. An internal state of being we refer to as “personal power”.
Personal power is an inner awareness that makes us feel in control of our lives. It is an inner knowledge that we can achieve our goals, a calm conviction about who we are and our ability to get the things we want in life. Why not begin today, decide on those goals. Put that Business Plan down on paper and begin with “baby steps” in achieving the various stages.
Lao Tzu, famous Chinese philosopher stated: “the biggest problem in the world is that individuals experience themselves as powerless”.
Quiet Confidence
People with a highly developed sense of personal power have a quiet self-confidence that they can set the direction of their lives, and they do. They are able to distinguish among circumstances over which they have some control and those they do not. They define themselves from the inside out for example, their internal self talk includes messages like “I am a capable person, I can manage this setback/this financial crisis. I am creative and I will prove my creativity in my own business”.
The biggest barrier to success in almost any endeavor is the feeling of powerlessness, negativity, helplessness or inertia. Mahatma Gandhi had no army, never held or accepted political office, never used violence. He was a small, frail man, yet, he defeated the armed might of the British Empire, driving the British out of India without firing a single shot. How did he accomplish this?
Personal power. Personal power can move mountains. Personal power solves problems.
Keep moving in the direction of you goals, that business and enjoy the journey. You will be there before you know it!

The rule upholds that there is always an upside, an opportunity even to the worst crisis. So take a minute to try and consider some of those upsides now.

Re: What's the rule on using emoticons? Re: What's the rule on using emoticons? - I use the Smiley Face a lot when communicating with subscribers and affiliates. So far, I don't think I've gotten into any "trouble" for it. I do, however, agree on avoiding other types as we never know how one could interpret it.

There's another one I found out about just two weeks ago - probably because they paid big bucks to be on the TV show NCIS. Called...okay, I'm having a senior moment.... I Can Beat That .com or something similar. Rather than videos, people upload t heir best photos for Best Ugly Face, Best Air Guitar photo, and so on. I looked at it just to see if the NCIS guys were actually on it, and they are... but never bothered to go back as its not something that interests me...
