What you need to know about starting home business.

Why start a home based business? Job security, time freedom, write your own paycheck, Set your own working hours, no layoffs and no downsizing to name a few. Of course, if it was that easy everyone would be quitting their current jobs to start a home based business.

Sadly many have started a home based business and had less than thrilling results. To succeed at any home business, you need to follow a few rules:

  1. Find a product you believe in. If the product you are going to market/ sell does not excite you, move on. Find a different product that does. Think about this way, you’re in car sales. Pick the car you find most offensive to you and sell it with conviction. Not the offensive part. But sell the car on its merits good or bad. Now, pick your dream car and think how much easier you can sell and talk about that car. In anything you will market, your enthusiasm or lack of enthusiasm will come through whether in person, video or print.
  2. Change your thinking from “how much does it cost to how much to invest”. It may be a slight distinction, but expenses will take money from your bank account and proper investments put money into your bank account. This is a mind set. See What one degree can do.212movie.com
  3. A legitimate home based business WILL have some initial investment. Avoid any business or opportunity with “No-Investment” claims. If these types of no-investments really made the money claimed, the economy would not be in the state it is currently in. A legitimate home based business will give you time and solid resources to do your own research and due diligence.
  4. Make the commitment to succeed. Start with your “why” or your reason for wanting your own business. Really expand on this. Write it out. I have pages of things and reasons why I want to work from home. Also make a commitment of how much time you will dedicate to this new endeavor. It is not as easy as most claim it to be. You will have learning and challenges, just like learning to drive. Do you think race car drivers win their first major race that pays them over a million in prize money? “How hard could it be to drive round and round a track?” some might say. You and I can drive around an oval right now; the difference is the racer has committed the time to learn his craft.
  5. Determine the skill set needed to market and sell your product effectively. Old school methods taught us to talk to friends and family. That worked 50 years ago. Learn what works today. Five years ago Twitter, Facebook, and Digg did not exist. Yet today many make real money with those tools. Not by blasting followers with “Oh you’re following me so you must want my opportunity”; that’s the same as running to your friends and family. You just used a different delivery method to deliver the same message. So learn the correct way to use these tools. There is no one right way, just many that work well. Find the ones the fit your personality and go make some money.
Having a successful home business requires work and personal sacrifice. You always have choices. Personal sacrifice in home business building may require choosing between to learning internet marketing versus watching your favorite TV show. Every successful home based business started someplace. Follow tips such as these to short cut your learning curve and get yourself to where you really want to be. Grab a pin and paper and write it out. This may sound like a simple step but every successful person I know has done this simple step. The people that struggle do not.

Do or do not; There is no Try.

How can I start home-based business? How can I start home-based business? - I am not sure what you mean by home-based and how my story can help but my home-based business is my web design business. I can work from home and go out to meet my clients. These times (When I'm out) is the most 'dangerous', because if clients need some files or if something didn't get through email, I'll need to find the nearest internet hot spot (i bring my external hard drive everywhere) to service the client or come up with an excuse. initially it was difficult, working from home and starting up. work was scarce but I knew it was only in the beginning. after 5 months, I have quite a constant flow of work but still the cheques are not that regular but its getting there. I met other people who has started home-based business and they range from travel agents to company secretaries. hope that helps
Re: How Much Do You Need To Start? Re: How Much Do You Need To Start? - From reading the responses - it seems that we're getting two different types of replies. One is for people who are talking about starting a business and figuring in enough money to keep the every day living expenses paid while beginning to build the business and before revenue starts to come in. The other reply is from people who are talking about the amount that is needed only to start the business - no living expenses being included. If the person is starting a business part time, they probably won't need to consider what it takes to live. But, if the person is considering starting a new venture fulltime, they need to also consider what they will need to live. I lived at home with my parents when I started my business and they covered my living expenses, but not everyone has that luxury. Chris

Re: Startup blogs Re: Startup blogs - If you are thinking about starting a small business or a home-based business, then one thing you can do is start blogging about stuff in your proposed business field as a way to (1) get your ideas straight and start researching your field. (2) build up a presence on the web before you launch your business. Sure, once you get to the set up phase, assuming your business operates offline or mainly offline, then blogging may be less of a priority compared to the more urgent stuff.
Help Me Start A Business Help Me Start A Business - Can you spot a need in the market? If you can, see if starting a business based on that need is of interest to you. If it is then write up a venture plan to see if your idea is viable or not. I wish you the best of luck starting your new business, Nana~
