Why Should You Learn Internet Marketing
Internet marketing, web marketing, online marketing call it
what you will it is here to say. Whether you understand it or not does not
matter. But those that do… are making the big bucks. Whether it is for a company
you work for or a company you build from scratch. And that my friends is why
you should take the time to learn this skill.
This skill is a combination of things like copywriting,
knowing what program or tool to use and how to use those programs. It’s a
mindset or attitude. I do not know squat about how to build software programs
but I sure can learn to use a program to make a webpage. My mentors consist of everyday
people that once did everyday jobs. A waiter, a car salesman, a guy that worked
for Midas Muffler. Just every day people that learned a skill or set of skills.
Now those everyday people have extraordinary bank accounts but more importantly…
They live life on their terms.
Think about this,
when was the last time you personally used the yellow pages to let you fingers
do the walking? Marketing is why you remember, “Let your fingers do the walking.”
Your fingers still do the walking but just over your keyboard and not in a
yellow book. This is where you knowing internet marketing comes in.
When I had my carpet cleaning business, I was hounded by
about 50 phone book sales reps a year. All claiming my ad in their book would
get my phone to ring of the hook. And when it didn’t ring as much as they claimed
the sales rep was more than happy to recommend a much bigger ad or I needed to
pay for better placement. Top outside edges were best. The yellow pages is
still trying to get you there system where you pay them for ad placement with
yellow book dot com. Viruses knowing a bit about marketing on the internet. If
you Google Idoux carpet cleaning I still rank with four spots on the first page
with two from the cleaning business from years ago and two from what I am doing
now. The others are my brother’s who like every cleaning company has taken a
huge hit in this economy.
Point is most people can put up a web site these days. But
just having a web site does not mean Google or a search engine can find that
site. So this is where knowing internet marketing makes you valuable in the
eyes of an employer or dare I hint at your very own business. There are things
to sell other than vitamins or home based business opportunities. In fact there
are people making thousands monthly just by knowing how to market affiliate
programs on the internet.
Internet marking, copywriting and knowing how to do them allows
you to write your own paycheck in 2010. Be that for a company you own or work
for, learning internet marketing is the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. You

it is a fun last name but just with knowing a little about internet marketing I
rank for 8 out of 10 on first page of Google 9 of 10 first page Yahoo and 10
for 10 on Bing with my name.

1. Start with a web promotion plan and an effective web design and development strategy.
2. Get ranked at the top in major search engines, and practice good Search Optimization Techniques.
3. Learn to use Email Marketing Effectively.
4. Dominate your marketing niche with affiliate, reseller, and associate programs.
5. Request an analysis from an Internet marketing coach or Internet marketing consultant.
6. Build a responsive opt-in email list.
7. Publish articles or get listed in news stories.
8. Write and publish online press releases.
9. Facilitate and run contests and giveaways via your web site.
10. Blog and interact with your visitors.

- Hi Kevin,
Like GT suggested, I also think you can add Internet Marketing as a sub category in the Marketing section and also a Social marketing as subcategory.
Online marketing/internet marketing/online promotion are the same, and it will be best to use the common term - Internet marketing.
I can't think about someone to moderate a Social Marketing category. We all use it, we all know how to make it work and we all have our own different experience with it.
Internet Marketing Conference on SLife
- I've been trying to log in but it keeps crashing.. anyways..
a friend of mine in BC plans on holding Internet Marketing Conferences on SecondLife and have the same top internet marketers that would normally be in Live Internet Marketing conference speak.
Income will be generated from admission charges, product sales during breaks, sponsor tables, etc etc..
Just to get the ideas flowing in your head that anything you can do in the real world can be replicated in SL.
There is no planned date as of yet for this conference.

Hi Jenny,
All good valid advice here to readers. The one thing I might add for clarification to readers is on point number 4 concerning "dominating" search results. I always like to clarify the importance of dominating for a variety of well researched keyword phrases that ideally target your ideal buying audience. Sometimes people misunderstand and think the objective is too dominate all top 10 spots for the same keyword. The reason this is not wise is that anyone successfully dominating all top 10 spots may actually be reported to Google Abuse because the purpose of a search engine is to display a variety of choices. Competitors can become quite upset with a company who is dominating all top 10 spots for the same phrase. I realize you know this already, but just thought I'd throw it in for anyone new to SEO. A better way to "dominate" is for a variety of very well researched phrases to pull in multiple audiences of readers. Great post Jenny.

Welcome to the forum, it's great to have you here and thank you for telling us a little about yourself. You sound like a very enthusiastic person who likes what she does and in Internet Marketing that is very important and you also sound like a 'people person' which is great.
Internet Marketing is time consuming and challenging but can also be extremely rewarding and hopefully profitable. I don't know how many forums you have signed up to but this is one of the best. The support and guidance you get here is what makes it the success that it is but as I am sure you know from looking at the side bar that there are many aspects of business that are catered for here which will help you along the way,
