Entrepreneurs - 7 Reasons Put Your Business On The Internet
Entrepreneurs - 7 Reasons Put Your Business On The Internet
1. You Reach More People
In these modern international times, the internet shows off your business all over the world. If your products can be profitably delivered in many countries then your web site will help you find them. If you deliver services, can you do this virtually by telephone, email, via internet messaging or even podcasting? If it is not possible to sell your products in other countries, then how about writing about them and selling ebooks, services about them or even changing your products slightly?
2. More People Are Buying and Searching For Products Online
As broadband becomes more available and computers more common - many households have more than one now – more people are reaching for their PC’s to search for the plumber, that new coat or the advice on getting rid of cat’s fleas! It makes sense that you should put your company in front of them. People are becoming more comfortable with actually buying and you should be giving them the opportunity. Even if they won’t or can’t buy from you immediately, email makes it very easy for them to contact you to ask for your company’s help. Technology is now such, that they can now contact you via virtual helpers and of course you will have your telephone number of your site if you prefer the more old fashioned methods.
3. You Can Work More Flexibly
For a start your working hours are more flexible in that people all over the world search and shop 24 hours of the day. So if you are a night owl or a morning lark, then you can answer all your enquiries when it suits you and turn them around in the same day.
Secondly you can work wherever you can get to a computer. With the rising popularity of mobile broadband and no cost wi fi spots in hotels, restaurants and airports you can even check your business whilst you are travelling.
4. No One Knows How Big Your Business Is
One of the great things about the internet is that it is a level playing field. You can compete with bigger companies – although the really big ones like Amazon and eBay still get higher on the search engines. Still so would you if you had their millions! Still with a good looking, effective website, a responsive enquiry system and an efficient fulfillment service you CAN compete much more easily than in the “real” world.
5. Everything You Need Are Close By
If you are an organized worker you can keep all your prospects, customers and business associates on your computer so that you can readily find them. If you need to contact one of them, you can do so without having to travel, spend money or get cold or wet. Of course the personal touch is still important so you can use instant messaging, video phones/messaging and pod casting to reach out to them.
6. You Can Work On Auto Pilot
If you set up your processes correctly many internet based business models can be set to act automatically. With digitally delivered goods this can also include fulfillment.
Certainly you can use auto responders to keep in contact with your customers and answer many standard questions, marketing your business and provide FAQ’s amongst other things.
Software can be bought to automatically deliver digital products and these can be also used to deliver books, CD’s and DVD’s. Drop shipping and POD (Print on Demand) are also very common. All of these can be automatically linked into your fulfillment process.
Marketing can also be set up to work on autopilot once you have given it your first “push”.
This allows you to concentrate on other parts of your business – or even take a well earned break!
7. It’s Affordable
Lastly, starting an internet business is affordable for almost everyone. You can get a business up and running at very little cost and your monthly running costs can be similarly negligible.
Before you get too excited though – as in all things in life – there are downsides and you will need to spend time, energy and thought in setting up your internet business – but aren’t those some of the key skills of any entrepreneur?
