Entrepreneurs – Want To Be An Airport Driver?
You’ve seen them pick up people and
passengers at the airport and think that you might like to do the same as a
business so how do you go about it?
First of all you need to decide what kind of
vehicle you want to use. Do you want a
high end limousine or a registered cab or taxi?
Do you want a small van or large car to take a few people? Or do you
want to run coaches? There are a few things you need to do
regardless of your vehicle choice and some you need to do for each type of vehicle:
·
First you need to go onto you
State, country or county web site to see what licenses and qualifications you
will need. Needless to say you should obtain these before any great expenditures
are undertaken.
·
Now for your choice of vehicle. If you are choosing a small van or car, you
might also need a trailer. If you choose
an executive car then you should ensure it is washed, waxed and detailed before
every trip and that the inside is spotless and contains such items as
newspapers and drinks. If you are having
a taxi or cab, these have their own specific requirements that you hackney/cab
license will place on you. Coach drivers
will need specific driving licenses. You should see your driver/driving license
authority for details of any changes you will need. You should take the appropriate test before
paying out for an expensive vehicle.
·
Next is insurance – you can’t
use your car license as you are carrying paying passengers.
·
You will also need liability
insurance so see your insurance agent for details.
·
Next is a tax number and
registering for tax so contact your tax authority.
·
Now you are ready to get
going. Advertise in your local Yellow
Pages and locally to find your local passengers. Also advertise in the appropriate web sites
to find your arriving customers. If you
also have a group of planes that arrive from a set area, you can also advertise
in that area.
·
Your airport might also need
some qualifications - you need to check with them. They often have
specific waiting systems and rules as to whom can collect from the airport.
Some airports only deal with one company and you will need to sub
contract from them.
A quick chat with a local transport driver
will help you understand the peculiarities of your local airport. Good luck.
