Got Something Important To Say? Getting The Word Out

* Write and article. Like this one and send it to article directories such as ezinearticles.com and articleshut.com. This gets you into the search engines as well.
* Write and press release. Just make sure that your ideas are newsworthy. There are press release web sites on the internet.
* Set up a web site. Good marketing, particularly in a niche area will put your ideas in front of others. It gives you a larger area to publish your details and a link to refer people back to.
* Contact the local newspapers and radio stations: This works really well if you have a local based newsworthy item.
* Add to current web sites: Do a search engine search on your subject matter and see if someone else has set up a web site where you can place your comments. This works particularly well with charities and scam busting.
* Forums and blogs: Again do a search engine search and find some appropriate forums and blogs – have your say and leave a link back to your web site. Or you could start your own blog.
* Complimentary companies: Find some companies that are sympathetic to your cause or sell complimentary items to yours. Arrange to leave leaflets with them, co-sell your products or advertise in their ezines.

Here’s some advice to ensure that you make the most of your efforts.
* Make your message short and quickly understandable.
* Avoid the opportunity to rant and ramble – it won’t be appreciated and people will not want to get involved.
* Make your pitch truthful, believable and interesting.
* Make sure that you do not libel or slander people.

Lastly, good luck!

Re: What works for you? Re: What works for you? - Hi Yinka, I work better under pressure of deadlines when I am doing something for other people. However, I like to have the leisure to develop my own projects. The first case is what Stephen Covey calls a "Quadrant 1" activity ("Important and urgent") whereas the second case is a "Quadrant 2" activity ("Important, not urgent"). We should aim to make as much time as possible for Q2 activities so that we can develop our own projects. Easier said than done!
