There are so many different types of franchise opportunities available today. And the large majority of them have one common element: retail space. Owning a franchised business that needs retail space to sell a product means high overhead.
Not only will you need to pay top dollar for Class A retail space (remember: location, location, location), but just think about all of the employees you will need to hire. Most of your employees will be younger. Younger employees tend to be less reliable and are prone to constant job changes. And then there are the hours. Yes, you will be working like a dog.
On the other end of the spectrum are the thousands of business opportunities. Most will promise you how rich you will soon be with very little effort. Some are multi-level marketing schemes which work well if you are the one who invented the scheme. These types of BizOps need no retail space, no office space, and almost no overhead. One can work as hard as you want or as little as you want. Yes, there are some very good BizOps out there. But be careful, it takes a very keen eye to find the perfect BizOp that will really make you a good honest income.
So what do you do if you wish to own a business that provides a good income while reducing your overhead and time commitments? Take a look at service franchises. A service franchise typically needs a small office or office warehouse facility. This space is much less expensive than typical retail space. Many service businesses can even be operated out of a home office. And service businesses usually have fewer employees than retail businesses. Plus the employees tend to be much more loyal and turnover is much less dramatic and much more manageable. And the best part is you can easily manage your own hours.
Some examples of excellent service franchises are home improvement/handyman businesses, pet related businesses, child protection/education businesses, computer repair businesses, automotive oil change businesses, maid and house cleaning businesses, lawn care businesses, and window décor businesses. And then there are some more unusual type of service franchises.
One particular franchise opportunity that I like is Hydro Physics Pipe Inspection. This is a business that can initially be run out of your own home with no prior experience necessary. The company has excellent growth potential and it is in a niche industry. And it does not take a lot of capital to get started with your own franchise.
Sounds good doesn’t it?
