Let Go & Lead - By Jay Kubassek

I’ve been in London for the past few days. It’s like Europe, but English! It’s one of those things I always wanted to do, but never had a specific date or time frame to make it happen. It’s been an incredible experience.

PRO will have a London office soon. We will be having about 500 new members joining over from England soon. Over the years we’ve had a lot of leaders come through the PRO community. If you are truly about success and empowering people, you have to let people go and be at peace with their ability to make their own decisions.

One of my students a few years ago, Stuart Ross, was a PRO member who built his own community that was modeled after PRO. (I had no idea they existed until I met him randomly in Washington D.C. this past spring.) Since then, we’ve been looking for ways to collaborate and bring things to the table that complements each other’s business. That goes to show that you have no idea how the decisions you make today will impact your business (and others) years down the line. I had no idea what impact I had on these entrepreneurs in England. It was beyond humbling to know that I had contributed to their growth.

The wake up call is this: stay focused and clear on the reason why you’re building your business, and make sure that reason is bigger than just money. It has to encompass other people and their success. There’s no way you can know what effects your actions will have down the line, but there WILL be an impact. Don’t be caught surprised that the effect won’t happen right away. The results may materialize much later.

It’s easy to question yourself at times and wonder if you’re doing the right thing along the way; I know I did. But one thing was clear to me from day 1: how can I help other people eliminate the learning curve? How can I blaze a path for other people to follow?

The mission of PRO has always been along that line. And this weekend, I met many top affiliates who were emulating a leader who began as a student in PRO. I saw that mission fulfilled within this group in ways I couldn’t have imagined or foreseen. Everyone will be better off because of it.

Regardless of what you do, time will come and go. What you have to ask yourself is:if I am willing to stick with my mission, even if the results aren’t immediately apparent, will I or will I not be better off months – years – decades down the road? The answer is absolutely YES. Don’t be attached to the timelines. Everything comes full circle. You’ll get exactly out of your business what you put into it. (The same goes for your life.) If you attach yourself to the intention – not the outcome – and you trust the right results will be learned, whatever happens from that will be the right result. That’s how you will learn the right lessons from life.

In six short years, Canadian entrepreneur Jay Kubassek went from working on a farm to selling mufflers at a Kansas City Midas shop to revolutionizing home-based entrepreneurialism with the 2004 launch of his Internet-based education company CarbonCopyPRO and the PRO family of companies.

With little more than an 8th grade education and no start-up capital, the odds were stacked against him. But Jay has proven that business success and financial freedom can be achieved by virtually anyone who wants it badly enough, provided they are willing to earn it and the entrepreneurial spark is still there.
