Is Professional Website Design a Must Have?

In business today, it is a given that virtually every legitimate company should have a website for clients to easily access information. But many business owners still wonder if simply having a website is enough, asking questions like: How important is quality and professional design? What can professional design do to actually help my business? Will the benefits of professional design offset the costs?

To answer these questions, it is important to understand the client mindset when they are searching for a particular product or service. To a client, a business’ website is much like the front of a brick and mortar store. Have you ever driven by a shop with chipping paint and a rusted old sign? They might sell the greatest product the world has ever seen, but who would know it? Why bother finding out if the business presents itself so poorly?

To answer the first question; professional website design is essential to the continued success and growth of any business. Presentation is everything. No one talks to their clients in broken slang or submits proposals on frayed loose-leaf paper. And no business should lose clients simply because of their website design.

Challenges and Benefits of Getting Professional Web Design

The Challenge

The greatest challenge you face is finding the right website designer. There are a lot of them out there, but few have the experience and expertise necessary to provide real quality. It’s easy to get a website design that is simply “better than nothing,” but you are much better off finding a designer who will make your website work to earn you clients.

The Good News

Once you’ve found them, having your website designed by experienced experts can provide you with a huge competitive edge and dramatically boost client interest, easily offsetting the costs. And once you have a web design, you have it forever; it will continue to benefit and work for you throughout the life of your business.

Your website design establishes your image, and plays a huge role in your corporate identity. High quality design gives your business a quality image, while poor design gives you a poor image. When your site is designed by experienced experts, potential clients will have a greater trust in your professionalism and reliability.

Managing Your Website Managing Your Website - Hi Beat I know what you are talking about when you say it could be a frustrating experience. I would recommend to every business owner to find a website partner who can handle the Website Design/SEO/Hosting by themselves while still at a reasonable cost to your business. This is the most economical way to operate the online side of your business if you are unsure about it. I actually do this for a few clients myself and all I do is send them a bill every year for hosting/seo but if there are any problems its up to me to call the hosting company to find out what's wrong as well as keep them high ranking for particular keywords. If anyone else has found it difficult with their website, hosting or the management of any online services please post your feedback here and I'll try to advise your best option.

This is the most economical way to operate the online side of your business if you are unsure about it[/quote:fiwtvhid] Hi TheAnonymousMan, Do you recommend this course of action because you feel that it's too much work for an entrepreneur to be the "jack of all trades"? What if the business a startup is trying to launch is completely an online venture? Wouldn't it be more practical (and cost efficient, especially in the long run) for that entrepreneur to learn how to create or at least update his/her own website? In fact, a lot of times, I hear how startups tend to give too many shares of the company to their partnering web designer, only to regret it later. How much should one give?
