4.- Replace your regular light bulbs with compact fluorescent light bulbs. According to the federal government, if every American home replaced just one light bulb with an Energy Star approved compact fluorescent bulb (CFL), the United States would save enough energy to light more than 2.5 million homes for a year and prevent greenhouse gases equivalent to the emissions of nearly 800,000 cars. Using motion sensor lighting is also a good idea.
5.- Turn off your computer when your work is done. Even if you really want to go home to rest, try to turn off your computer before leaving your office. This may reduce the energy used by 50%.
6.- Recycle! There is a lot of waste in offices that can be recycled. And remember, computer equipment must be recycled too. There is a link to a list of items that can be recycled at the end of this article.
Tree planting is an effective way to help the environment and offset the amount of carbon dioxide that your business emits. The American Forests website offers a calculator that helps you determine your carbon emissions and tells you how many trees you must plant to offset that amount. They also plant the trees. Each tree costs just $1. The link to their website is provided at the end of this article.
Please do your part to help the environment. Small things can make a big difference for our Earth. Even one person can make a difference because you might also inspire a friend or family member to do the same, and our effort will be increased.
