8 More Ideas For Adding Quality Content To Your Website
Google's "May Day" algorithm places a great deal of weight on the quality of the content at your website. In order to earn a satisfactory position in the search engine results pages, your website must contain authoritative, top-notch content.
But you're an entrepreneur. You're a small business owner. You're an expert in your field. You're not necessarily a writer. So it can be difficult coming up with remarkable material for your website. If you're familiar with the feeling of staring at a computer screen, unsure of what to say or type, here are a few ideas you should consider:
1. Biographies and personal stories. As human beings, we're conditioned to love personal stories. Collect biographical stories from the leaders in your industry and share them with your audience.
2. Industry news and events. Most press releases can be reprinted as-is, but if you really want to present high-quality content and develop a relationship with your prospects, you should present the news story with your own twist. Throw in your own opinion or commentary, or explain how the story will personally affect your target audience.
3. Community news. It's easy to add community news if your website is local. But even if your audience is national or international, you can discuss industry events, such as conferences and seminars and educational events.
4. Upcoming events. Along the same line as community news, a calendar of upcoming events is a great website feature. If the event is industry-wide, there is usually a brochure or sales letter created for it. Including some of this wording is a great way to incorporate high ranking keywords into your website as well.
5. Video tutorials. While Google doesn't directly crawl the video file, they can read the meta data that is associated with it. Video tutorials are an excellent source of on-going content since you can usually create several videos based on one tutorial by breaking each step into a separate video.
6. Customer answers. Why not pose a question to your subscribers, readers and clients and ask them to submit their best answers? You can use the top answers as posts on your website; and your readers will love the recognition they will get.
7. Advice column. Similar to you asking your readers questions, your readers could also ask each other questions. Not only does this increase the high quality content on your website, but it also builds comradery amongst your readers, clients and prospects.
8. Customer how-tos. Rather than you telling your readers how to overcome a certain problem or deal with a difficult issue, ask your customers or clients to write up a quick explanation of how they did it.
It's important that you add high-quality, unique content to your website on a regular basis. But high quality content doesn't have to be difficult to come by. Get creative and think outside the box. Your audience will appreciate the uniqueness, and Google will reward you with a better search engine position.
