“Should I or shouldn’t I”

I have determined that there are many reasons why businesses haven’t adopted Social Media into their overall communications strategy. Be it skepticism, lack of funding or no internal support from upper management. These delays to jump into the Social Media world could be a blessing.

Businesses need to consider how Social Media will be part of their overall strategy and set clear expectations as to what they would like to achieve. Instead of saying, “We should do Social Media”, the focus needs to be on “What does Social Media mean for our organization, stakeholders, employees, and customers“?

Since the inception of the Internet we have seen minor and major shifts in innovation. Some built on excitement and others that have changed the landscape of how we conduct our everyday lives. I believe that one things needs to remain clear, businesses need to build a long-term strategy that takes these shifts into account. We haven’t seen anything yet and Social Media will continue to grow and evolve for years to come.
So, take your time, set clear expectations and make sure your business is ready to plan for the future. Don’t just jump in; know what Social Media means to your business and how it will help you connect with the digital age.

Improve your Communications strategies, learn from the experiences of Brian Beehler and how you, too, can leverage Social Media to improve employee, stakeholder, and customer communications as well as support your organizations overall efforts to drive change and achieve results. Im a communications professional with over 10 years of experience in the private and public sector. Im currently developing a frame work for corporations to build strategies that involve Social Media. By determining the patterns of a social network, a corporation can build a plan that breaks down the barriers between employees, stakeholders, and consumers. My work within this area will help shape how we communicate within the corporate world. I will share my daily experiences from a social perspective and will determine if the line between personal and professional has become blurred. My blog will serve as an experiment to facilitate connections with people around the world and bring a collective agreement of how we should adopt social media within the workplace and our lives. Follow my blog and build relationships with other social media professionals. As a collective body connecting, collaborating, and cooperating we can Make the Connections.

Re: Quoting for Jobs Re: Quoting for Jobs - What are you selling? If you are sending 'blind quotes' after a very loose meeting or contact, you are probably wasting a lot of your time in the follow up. How much 'prequalifying' do you do before you submit a quote or proposal? If you've done your homework, you shouldnt have to do much follow up - unless something significantly changed at the prospects location. Jude

[/quote:1q9gtydl] Good thinking - but some people need a steer in the right direction, a little nudge to get them motivated! [quote:1q9gtydl]Some of that depends on how bad I want the job and how bad I need the money[/quote:1q9gtydl] Very true, going to be a bit more smarter and try and get more positive lead (if there is such a thing!) Re: Did you buy into the iPhone 3G craze? Re: Did you buy into the iPhone 3G craze? - EGAD - I'm not going to comment on the PC versus MAC issue as I live with a graphic designer and this is a constant discussion in our house, and at my office! I will say though Kevin, that yes I do think that manufacturers are making crappy stuff....and why shouldnt they - we all run out to buy the latest... I think perhaps it is time to replace your cell phone, only because you have used it completely. you can buy new without falling into the hype trap. But if you cant talk for longer than 3 minutes....its not serving you I think people need to just be more dilligent about what still has life. I know if more people thought this way, we wouldnt have the amount of consumer debt that we have....etc. I dont have any debt except my mortgage....and my gosh, life is sooo much nicer this way. I am now starting to think about replacing my car...but my sister, whose husband is a GM technician gave me some good advice. When your repair bills are starting to equal car payments its time to get rid of the car. If they arent, it really is just transportation so focus on getting as much use out of it as possible. Makes sense to me..
Too Successful for Marriage? Too Successful for Marriage? - Hey Everyone! This is one of my favourite topics so forgive me if I rant... There is a huge piece missing in all of these discussions and that is, what are the men doing/going to do differently? The focus is always on the women and how we have created this but in reality in the men who have become obsessively insecure about 'their' roles in the relationship, etc. Perhaps if there were more education or relationship coaching for men, it would help. Right now, the majority of information is focussed on the women. Men clearly dont know what is 'expected' of them anymore. These arent our fathers times. There was an article in Men's Health last year which was actually promoting the fact that men can relax a bit and be 'taken care' of by their successful wives and girlfriends. Give me a break - if I was single and I wanted to take care of something, or some-one it would be my business or my dog. Men these days seem to have lost all THEIR Ambition and drive. If they, the men, could catch up with the women in self esteem, empowerment etc., we'd all be much better off. I think women, while wanting a relationship, are doing the right thing in remaining single until they find a confident and self secure partner. I dont think women are looking to be the BREADWINNER all the time, but we shouldnt get punished by it. J
