iPhone 3G S – The fastest iPhone announced

Almost 2 years since Apple first introduced the iPhone and selling more than 21.4 million units since, comes a new version bringing more features to the ever popular smartphone, the iPhone 3G S, where S stands for speed. Announced on June 8, 2009, the phone also uses the newest iPhone OS 3.0 which brings many improvements over the predecessor. The cut, copy & paste feature is now finally available, with double tap support all over the iPhone OS, including SMS, mails, notes, etc. Copying is made simple with the use of tap and hold for selection. A compass application is also added, which other than just displaying the directions also helps align a map to the direction the phone faces. A user can now check their maps in real time and figure out the direction they are facing. Finding directions is made easier now. The Youtube application now allows a user to access their accounts, view subscriptions, comment and rate videos.

The recent calls history now has more details such as the call duration etc. The camera is now upgraded to 3.0 megapixels from the 2.0 on the predecessor and now features auto focus, auto white balance and can also record VGA video. Once recorded, the video can be edited and shared from the phone itself. Message forwarding, a feature missing from the earlier 3G, is now available. Finally you can forward the SMS messages from the phone. In the Safari browser, the page rendering is much faster. The battery life has been improved and lasts longer than before.

The search utility "Spotlight" is now able to search throughout the phone, even your messages and mails, and can also launch applications. iTunes gets a version upgrade to version 8.2 enabling iTunes account access. The landscape view is now available for messages, mails, contacts and notes too. MMS support is also now available. For better accessibility, the iPhone 3G S now has a black screen with white text option available too, and also zooming text is available. The phone now features a Voice Control, you can now "talk" to your phone and order it to call a contact or play songs.

In hardware terms, the new 3D graphics support is included. A new processor is built-in which Apple claims to be up to two times faster in loading applications and rendering web pages. The camera is also new and produces much sharper images than before.

Re: iPhone Apps: Biz Idea! Re: iPhone Apps: Biz Idea! - San Diego, California – Got an idea for a killer iPhone app? With more than 1 billion applications sold since its launch last July, Apple’s iPhone App Store has become one of the fastest-growing tech enterprises in recent history, and gained a reputation as something of a developer’s goldmine. Success stories such as that of Ethan Nicholas, whose iShoot app has earned him $900,000 in eight months, have only added to the App Store’s appeal for would-be iPhone entrepreneurs. “The runaway success of the App Store has created the legend of the iPhone millionaire,” says Ian Maskell, principal of iPhone App Freelancer, a company aiming to make it possible to get your idea into the App Store without technical knowledge and minimal financial outlay. “Everywhere we went people would say: ‘I’ve got a great idea for an app.’ We saw an opportunity to level the playing field and allow anyone the ability to become the next success story, regardless of their ability to program or write code.” So Maskell launched iPhone App Freelancer, a website offering the ability to turn great ideas into apps with little or no programming knowledge. Rob Shoesmith, a 27-year-old garbage collector from Coventry – England, submitted one of the first ideas to iPhone App Freelancer for development. Shoesmith says he has only had an iPhone for a few months, but has been following the growth of the App Store since its launch. He wants to keep the specifics of his app under wraps until its launch, but describes it as a user-generated advice service.
Re: iPhones Re: iPhones - [quote="OmnivoreInk"]iPhone batteries don't last long enough though...[quote] I own an iPhone and I have no problem with the batteries. I am a pretty heavy Internet user and if I don't watch videos or listen too much music (which I don't), I recharge my iPhone every other day.... exactly the same frequency as my old blackberry pearl.
