Morse Code
Morse code is a way to transmit data with the use of "dots" and "dashes" to represent letters and numbers. This form of communication is commonly used by amateur radio operators. However, the understanding of Morse code is no longer required in order for operators to be licensed. Morse code is a simple way to communicate because only on-off tones, lights, or clicks are needed in order to transmit information. Morse code also exists for languages in which the alphabet consists of more than 26 letters.
Morse code has evolved over the years, but originally began as a communication system for Samuel Morse's telegraph in the early 1840s. 50 years later, when it was still not possible to transmit voices, Morse code was adapted for radio communication use. Today, amateur radio operators, US Pilots, and air traffic controllers use Morse code.
Morse code speed is calculated in what is called words per minute, or WPM. Each letter of the alphabet and number is assigned a sequence of dots and dashes. The more commonly used letters in the English alphabet are assigned simple sequences, such as 'E' (single dot) and 'T' (single dash).
Because there is no decoding device necessary for understanding Morse code, it's a very versatile form of communication. In emergency situations, Morse code can be sent using a variety of different methods, making it a very useful and practical way to transmit data or messages. The understanding of Morse code continues to be valuable knowledge, even though it becomes less and less popular as we advance into the future with technology.

Google landing page tips
- Google AdSense expert, Joel Comm says "Edit the landing page, and you can tell the advertisers what they should write to get the most clicks with an ad on your site. You can even include your email address and contact information and invite them to contact you directly" ("The AdSense Code" 65 & 66). This way, advertisers will know to contact you via email if they can't find an option they like.
In "The AdSense Code", Comm also suggests the following landing page tips (67 & 68 ):
• Make your page look like it's a part of your site by adding a logo and using the same color scheme
• Define what your website does
• Outline the demographic and lifestyle information of your target market
• Provide a list of the content and keywords that are likely to attract the most clicks and conversions
• Explain to advertisers that a targeted campaign is likely to yield the best results for them

It was on the basis of the first chapter of Dan Brown's The Da Vinci Code that was available free on his website that I did NOT buy the rest of the book! However, I do agree with the point you were making. Dan Brown was savvy enough to turn an average novel into a massive bestseller.
Reworking an idea versus stealing prose
- It's always been a truism that one can't steal ideas. Ideas are just there, for anyone to take and run with.
For example, I believe Dan Brown was recently sued because his DaVinci Code apparently took a lot of information from a non-fiction book about Jesus Christ and the last supper, postulating that Mary had been married, and the writers of that book said he'd stolen their idea.
Well... he'd used their idea but he'd come up with the plot that went around it, not to mention all the words, so it was an "original" idea and they lost their suit.
On the other hand I think Harlan Ellison won a suit over Schwarzenegger's The Running Man, because it was too close to one of his stories...

How To Add A Paypal Button To Blogger
- Hi Brendan,
The blog is looking good. If possible, try to post something on it every day. You can vary the length of the posts, just something short when time is tight.
There are two parts to getting the Paypal code on your site. First is getting the Paypal code! Second is getting it on your site!
HOW TO GET YOUR PAYPAL CODE
1. Log in to Paypal
2. Click Merchant Services
3. Find the Key Features box on the right and click Donations.
4. Donations Page 1: Fill in the fields with your Donation name and a ref no. (the latter is not necessary). Choose a "Donate" button - I suggest the one with the pic of the credit cards beneath. It is up to you whether you "encrypt" or not. As you do not have a website there is no need to go to "Donations Page 2" for "more options", so you can just click "Create Button Now".
5. On the new page, click "Select All" for the "HTML Code for Websites" box and copy and paste the code to your blog.
HOW TO GET YOUR PAYPAL DONATION BUTTON ON BLOGGER
1. Go to your Blogger.com dashboard.
2. Click the "Layout" tab.
3. Click "Add A Gadget"
4. Scroll down to HTML/JavaScript and click the + sign.
5. A small screen will pop up and you can PASTE your Paypal Donation Button code there and add a title if you wish.
6. Click SAVE on the small screen.
7. Now, back on the main screen you can preview and then SAVE.
If all has gone well, you should now have a Paypal Donation button on your blog.

Best wishes,
David H
