How to link an article with a menu item into your Joomla website
1. This can be confusing, but for the moment forget about sections and categories.Within your Joomla administration panel go to CONTENT above and scroll down and click on ARTICLE MANAGER and then click on NEW.
2. Make sure that you fill in a Title under title, and ,most importantly, under SECTION make sure that UNCATEGORISED is chosen, and then just write your article. When finished writing your article just click on SAVE. ( Dont worry about the parameters on the right hand sidefor the moment, because thats not the lesson here)
3. Now go to MENU above in your control panel and scroll down to and click on MAIN MENU.Click on NEW and scroll down to ARTICLES.Click onARTICLES and choose ARTICLE LAYOUT from the dropdown menu.
4. Give your TITLE a name, for example HOME.On the right hand side of the page you will see PARAMETERS BASIC : You will see SELECT and you will be able toBROWSE around until you find your written article. When you find your article don't forget to click on SAVE above.
5. Thats it, your finished and youwill now see a menu item linking directly to your article.

- Hi ImpactAthlete
How did you teach yourself on customizing Joomla? Was it trial and error or did you use books or a class? I've tried using Joomla but I'd say it would take me days to customise a Joomla website, maybe I should just give it ago!
Thanks!
Re: Joomla Now Has A GetResponse Module
- Hi Kevin,
Interesting that you tried Joomla and then gave up on it. So did I!
There is a lot to be said for Joomla. It can make your site look very professional, you can completely change design in just a few clicks of your mouse, and if you add anything to a panel you can display it throughout your site...
Also, Joomla does seem to suck in traffic. My traffic stats improved with Joomla, probably because of the interactive features it offers, such as the article directory feature and so on.
However, I also experienced various frustrations with Joomla. HTML is simpler and you have complete control over your site, but you do have to recode every page when you make design changes... (unless you are prepared to learn CSS and then deal with all the browser problems...)
Also, I market the Plug-In Profits Site and came to the conclusion that it would be better business practice to show my potential customers what can be done with a Plug-In Profits site by using one myself and modifying it to suit my purposes. After all, there is no better advertisement for a product than the fact that the seller also uses it!
On the other hand, I know a lot of Internet marketers who love Joomla, so I think it is just a matter of choosing what works best for you.
... And if you like Joomla and use the GetResponse autoresponder service, life just got easier for you!

Re: Joomla Now Has A GetResponse Module
- Hi guys, I just wanted to give my 2 cents on this subject as I am a Joomla enthusiast.
I have 3 different Joomla sites and they all perform great, although they sometimes load a bit slowly.
My main site went up drastically in the search engines after I converted it to Joomla.
About the GetResponse module: Unfortunately, it's only compatible with Joomla 1.0, so for anyone
like me who has the latest version, I doesn't work.
Have a great day, everyone!

Hi Josip and welcome to our forums!
Would you happen to know why your Joomla sites load slowly?
Re: Joomla Now Has A GetResponse Module
- After reading the posts, I've come to two conclusions. Some people like Joomla, others don't.
My question is, is there a good alternative to Joomla? I don't mean Wordpress, either.
I've been considering starting a new site and would like to have content management as it's less of a hassle. My first thought was to use Joomla. Now I'm not so sure. I could probably make it work, though.
A GetResponse module would be good for me, however, since I do use them.
Are there any alternatives?
Thanks!
Alan
