How Do You Check Google Ranking? - Now that Google is so responsive to your own search history, how can you get a good idea of what your Google ranking really is for your web pages? Whenever I check my ranking for specific keywords on Google, my web pages appear on the front page, or suspiciously high. My way around this is to check Google ranking via other computer Internet links, i.e., whenever I'm working in a library I will use a library computer to check. I check Google ranking before logging into my Gmail or other Google-related accounts. Does anybody else have any other tips for discovering your Google ranking? Nowadays, I check Bing.com for my webpage ranking as it gives a much less favourable (and so, I guess, "truer") ranking for my webpages than Google does...
Re: Is Google Search getting better or worse? - As per the latest update Google improving search engine algorithm. As per the latest Google update Google now prefer content more than Title Meta tags. Now searches will show only descriptive content of your page so post relevant and unique content on all your website pages.
Re: Search Engine choices and SEO - Good point, GT. I find Bing very useful for checking how my pages are "really" doing on the search engines - or at least to compare with my results on Google. When it comes to searching for info though, I use Google most of the time.
Re: Can someone explain Search engine optimization to me? - Hi, Ask yourself, "What is the goal of a search engine like Google?" A search engine's goal is to provide the most related (or best) web page results when someone searches. Do you think people are searching for "Auction Cars Government" or "Government Car Auction." In fact type those keywords into Google with the quotation marks. You will find that Google gives different results for each keyword phrases. Granted you get many of the web pages ranking the same but there is a difference. My answer is, use "Government Car Auction" or even "Government Seized Car Auction" because that is what people are searching for. That is how the majority of the indexed pages use. That is what makes sense when you read the phrase. Jeff

I generated it from my adsense account, and now after an upgrade they call it Google custom search. This is a great tool. 1- people can search your website if they are looking for something specific 2- When people use the search box to search outside your site and click on the links you get commission. it is easy to install and can help your marketing efforts.
