Significance of Mobile-Friendly Website Design

High-tech gadgets are no longer a term associated with just the nerds and the geeks; rather the new generation is embracing the trend of using high-tech gadgets such as iPhones, iPads etc. like their new toys.

The emergence of this new market of smartphone and tablet users has made the web site owners think about enhancing their sites’ mobile compatibility. With mobile web access becoming so easy and handy, having a mobile-friendly website design is now almost mandatory.

Almost 82% of Australians access the Internet from the mobile phones to get information about products or services. Additionally, a large number of people also use the mobile web to search for business locations or get directions. However, if your website is not mobile friendly, the user, who had the potential of turning into your customer, would be directed to a competitor site that is mobile-friendly. If you want to stay ahead of competition and move a step closer to your target audience, investing in mobile-friendly website development and website design is the way to go.

The key reasons for providing quality Internet experience on mobile phones through your website design include:

1) Greater exposure- Computers, laptops and PCs are difficult to carry along while travelling or while holidaying. The advent of smartphones and tablets provides great opportunities for businesses to reach out to their potential customers even when they are relaxing somewhere and are just browsing the web through their mobile devices. A website that is flexible and compatible for different mobile screens can improve the user experience and open up new business and networking opportunities.

2) Compatibility- If you invest in website development techniques that facilitate easy mobile web browsing, your site can be accessed on different browsers available on all smartphones, tablets and mobile devices. Better the compatibility, better would be the overall experience of the users.

3) Higher conversion rate- Most of the time, mobile users have bitter experience while browsing through a website on their phones. A website development and design strategy can help in overcoming such problems and encouraging people to browse through the site and take a positive step on the site; thus, enhancing the conversion rate.

4) Brand awareness- The more accessible your business is to the target audience, greater can be your brand’s popularity. In order to spread brand awareness on your web, it is important provide the users with easy mobile access to your company’s website and the products/services offered by you.

5) Competitive advantage- Mobile web access is relatively a new trend and there still are a large number of websites that cannot be accessed from a smartphone. If you invest in a mobile-friendly website design and development, you can take advantage of the weakness of your competitors by being available to your target audience on their mobile phones.

Therefore, it’s time to focus beyond computers and laptops and enhance your website and your brand’s popularity among the targeted audience through technically-sound and user friendly websites.

Managing Your Website Managing Your Website - Hi Beat I know what you are talking about when you say it could be a frustrating experience. I would recommend to every business owner to find a website partner who can handle the Website Design/SEO/Hosting by themselves while still at a reasonable cost to your business. This is the most economical way to operate the online side of your business if you are unsure about it. I actually do this for a few clients myself and all I do is send them a bill every year for hosting/seo but if there are any problems its up to me to call the hosting company to find out what's wrong as well as keep them high ranking for particular keywords. If anyone else has found it difficult with their website, hosting or the management of any online services please post your feedback here and I'll try to advise your best option.

This is the most economical way to operate the online side of your business if you are unsure about it[/quote:fiwtvhid] Hi TheAnonymousMan, Do you recommend this course of action because you feel that it's too much work for an entrepreneur to be the "jack of all trades"? What if the business a startup is trying to launch is completely an online venture? Wouldn't it be more practical (and cost efficient, especially in the long run) for that entrepreneur to learn how to create or at least update his/her own website? In fact, a lot of times, I hear how startups tend to give too many shares of the company to their partnering web designer, only to regret it later. How much should one give?
