Creating Flash banner with iSpring

iSpring is a product for millions of people who know how to use PowerPoint. It helps them create Flash movies without any experience in Flash technology. Is it really possible? Yes!

Creating Flash banners in PowerPoint with iSpring is not just possible, but even easy and fast. PowerPoint offers an extensive range of effects and facilities for creating animated content. It is quite easy to make your PowerPoint texts or images rotating, flying, fading, etc. You just need to gather all these things and let iSpring output them into a Flash banner. We've divided our tutorial into four easy steps.

I. Creating the banner in PowerPoint

II. Making the slides advance automatically

III. Linking the banner to your web site

IV. Publishing the banner

I. Creating the banner in PowerPoint

First of all, create a simple banner in PowerPoint. Or you may download our sample banner and skip to the second part of the tutorial - Making the slides advance automatically.

Adjust canvas size of the presentation:

1. On the Design tab, click the Page Setup button. Our sample banner will be 468 x 60. So adjust the PowerPoint canvas correspondingly.

2. Choose Custom from the Slides sized for drop-down menu.

3. Set Width to 46,8 cm.

4. Set Height to 6,0 cm.

5. Click OK.

Now add new slides, insert text, add animations and slide transitions.

II. Making the slides advance automatically

When your banner is ready, prepare it for publishing to Flash.

First, we need the slides to advance automatically at 5-sec steps.

1. On the iSpring tab, click the Presentation Explorer button.

2. Select all slides and click the clock icon on the toolbar.

3. Set playback duration for each slide (5 sec).

4. Click OK.

III. Linking the banner to your web site

So far, our banner is just an animation. But we want it to lead to our web site.

5. Click the Links button.

6. On the Settings tab, select On mouse click open the following Web page.

7. Type your web address in the text field below.

8. Select Open link in the new browser window.

9. Click OK.

IV. Publishing the banner

Now your banner is ready for publishing.

10. On the iSpring tab, click the Publish button.

11. On the General tab, choose the Banner player in the drop-down menu.

12. On the Playback and Navigation tab, select the Loop presentation checkbox.

13. On the Advanced tab, set the Flash movie size to 468x60 pixels.

14. Click the Publish button in the bottom right corner of the window.

Your banner will be published to Flash. All you need to do is to add it to your web site.

Re: Do You Know A Good Banner Designer? Re: Do You Know A Good Banner Designer? - Hi GT, Thanks for the feedback about banner design. The "human element" was a good point. I wondered about those key-holding hands, so I'm glad you like them!! Banners can be effective in a number of ways. If you are writing a review of a programme or product, for example, a good banner can add a strong visual element. I would include both text links and banners in any product review. Another banner tip... If you use traffic exchanges, don't neglect to make use of your banner credits! As well as getting more visitors to your webpages, you will get a lot of interesting feedback on banner view/clickthrough rates and that will help you to find out which banners seem to be more popular.
Re: Top Banner Help Re: Top Banner Help - Hi David - constructive advice is always welcomed! 1) The banner was done to match the standard banner size that we use across the website (on the homepage it's the famous entrepreneurs, for example) so we wanted to maintain a consistent look. 2) I like it - we have had a number of suggestions about the top banner and do need to change it! 3) The homepage was designed mainly for branding as well as SEO purposes instead of navigation. Most of the people who find my site don't end up on the home page - they end up on an article or forum post because of the SEO work that we've done. The goal of the homepage it to make the website look like an authority site and make people (partners, advertisers, authors, viewers) want to learn more.
Re: How can we provide a better forum moderator experience? Re: How can we provide a better forum moderator experience? - Ahh... I was hoping someone could help me out here... LOL. Perhaps maybe a small banner ad right below "Evan's Latest Video?" I don't think this would detract from the links on the sidebar, and it would be the only advertising on the entire sidebar. I think a 250 X 250 banner would fit. Just a thought...
Re: Top Banner Help Re: Top Banner Help - Hi Shri, We haven't done a freebie yet (partly because figuring out the logistics of how to do so is complicated technically - might be easier though with the new version) I would like people to not only sign up but be active and ask questions. The goal with the top banner is to community that people should ask questions but I'm wondering if what we have now is the best solution - any other ideas for what the top banner should be?
Re: Top Banner Help Re: Top Banner Help - Hi I think I freebie is a good idea say after 10 posts or 30 days. I know when I joined there was some FREE seo report which I think is a great incentive to new entrepreneurs. If its still available I think that would be work great as a banner? Also you could promote it on digg, use an attention grabbing headline ' FREE SEO Report' or 'Are you performing?' something like that? Instead of the same banner on each page you could have a selection of banners rotating Another suggestion is start a 'entrepreneur directory' and after 10 quality posts - (moderators decision) you can submit yourself with a link to your website? Just a few thoughts.
