Have you ever been bombarded with multiple spam ads when visiting a website or found your browser settings to have changed automatically? Maybe your computer has become dead slow all of a sudden and the usually fast browser crashes all too often these days. If one or more of these happen to be true, your computer might be infected with spyware in which case. You are in need of a Spyware Removal service. Read on to learn more about spyware and know how to protect your PC from this menace.

Spyware refers to any program that sets itself up on a computer without prior approval or knowledge of the user. There are several ways for this to happen and different consequences of spyware installation.

Once installed, they collect user/computer data such as user e-mail id, financial information, passwords, online activity etc and send such data to their creator who can use it for malicious purposes. Most spyware spam the user with wanton ads. They could also slow the system considerably and render it unusable.

When you visit an unsecured website, a pop-up might prompt you to download a piece of software you did not plan on using (called a drive-by download) or announce you just won a cash prize. Those pop-ups induce the innocuous web user to download spyware onto his/her system. In the context of today’s web browsers, you are reasonably protected from this as; most web browsers warn users when they attempt to visit an unsecured site. Depending on your browser settings, pop-up ads might be blocked altogether, another safety feature. Of course, if you trust the site or the pop-up, you can always tell the browser to treat it an exception whenever you visit the website.

Similarly, a feature called Active-X control, could be exploited by a spyware. Users can choose to disable this, at the cost of not being able to access full functionality of legit websites. This is not a one-time option, which means for a secure website, you can temporarily enable Active-X, should you feel the need to do so.

Users always need to be wary of downloading third-party software or applications from unverified or unknown sources. Some software vendors would allow spyware to piggyback their package and be installed side-by-side the original software. Well known examples include Kazaa and Bonzi Buddy. A portion of the revenue that comes from ads generated by such spyware goes to such free software vendors.

Installing additional plug-ins or extensions to enhance your browsing experience needs to be done carefully. Worth mentioning here is a special safety feature from Mozilla’s Firefox browser. Firefox prevents any additional programs from piggybacking behind extension or add-on, without prior approval of the user.

Some software might present themselves as antispyware to protect your computer. But in reality, they are spyware programs themselves. Therefore, only download trusted and time-tested software applications. For help to remove spyware or to identify which application is trusted, you can take the help of a Spyware Support provider. Spyware Support is a service to remove all spyware or virus infections from your computer.

Finally, a software loophole sometimes permits spyware installation on user systems. In order to avoid this, you need to update your software with the latest patches, as they are released. It is advisable to go for a third-party Spyware Support service for help with downloading latest updates or configuring your browser settings.
