COMMITMENT Leads to SUCCESS

Ask any successful person from any walk of life about the importance of commitment. You will find that anyone that has had or is having success in any area of life is totally committed to do what it takes. Does this mean that individual doesn't have life's challenges that get in the way? Not at all...they have learned to work around the challenges. Let's break down what this looks like. Here are a couple of scenarios that could come up.... First example - I have decided to do specific things to get the result in my business I am looking for. It could be doing some marketing for my business, or it could be finishing a project for an existing client. Some sort of challenge arises. It could be a number of things. Maybe the phone lines are down so I can't make the calls or the internet is down and I can't do the computer work required until technology co-operates again. There are any number of possible challenges that can/do arise in life and in business. What to do? -reschedule your day to fit in what you missed doing - if the phone lines/internet are down and you require this to get the job done...go on to something else on your "to do" list and come back to this later in the day. If someone else is affected by this change, be sure to let them know the change in plans. The secret is - do not let the task go undone....simply find a way to get it done either later in the day or reschedule to the following day. Be committed to getting the task done. Let's say I commit to being somewhere for a business appointment at a specific time. It requires a 1 hr drive to reach the destination. I leave an extra 20 minutes early to be there on time, but despite best efforts, there is a traffic jam that leaves me stuck in traffic. What does the successful individual do? There are a couple of options that can be determined through a simple phone call. I would call the person I have the appointment with and go over the options. One option would be to change the time for later that day. The other option would be to reschedule a suitable time, or perhaps even a different location would be a solution to get around the traffic jam. By having the professionalism to contact the person, one is able to show the commitment level, and, find a suitable solution. There is a very definite distinction in the area of commitment between successful individuals and unsuccessful. Unsuccessful people tend to buy their excuses - I got stuck in traffic, the phone lines/internet were down, I was going to, but...., I planned on it, but..... These people basically buy their own excuses and wonder why their life never changes or gets better. They are a victim of circumstance and can't see past their own challenges. And "co-incidentally" challenges keep coming up for this individual and they believe that the "odds" are against them. In many cases, these individuals believe the "timing" is just not right for them.... We can learn so much from other people that have success - this applies to everyday life situations as well as business. For example, I have a friend that invited some friends for dinner a couple of weeks ago. Another event came up that she wanted to be a part of on the same date. It would have been easy to cancel the dinner date with friends, but, she shared with me that if we don't keep commitments like this, sometimes they never happen and then we regret it. She is a beautiful example of keeping personal commitments and is a total inspiration to everyone that knows her. She has tons of people that love and admire her and treasure her friendship.....total success in terms of friendship. Successful people have all the same challenges, as unsuccessful people. The difference is we are solution oriented. We find a way where there seems to be no way. We look at challenges as a Y in the road, not a stop sign. We realize that there is a solution around the challenge, we just have to explore the options and find the way that will be best. It isn't difficult. It is being willing to look at possible solutions, instead of looking at every challenge as a stop sign. There is huge benefit to the individual that understands and lives their life by keeping commitments. It also builds self esteem, confidence and leads to greater success in every area of life! Re: 3 Ways to Grow Your Business in 2011 Re: 3 Ways to Grow Your Business in 2011 - Hi David, I've had a lot of success by building my own media list and then emailing out the reporters when I have a story. I've also used PR Leads (paid program) which got me into the New York Times and Forbes. I haven't done much with online press releases - from what I hear they can help you with your SEO but they don't get much mainstream media attention. Let me know if you have any specific questions and I'd be happy to help!
Re: Clarity Trumps Persuasion Re: Clarity Trumps Persuasion - Jeff, Thanks, great stuff !!! Clarity or "KEEP IT SIMPLE" is probably the best advice anyone can ever give or get when involved in any business or personal situation. Over 30 years of manufacturing ladies apparel has taught me two critical business lessons: 1-You will never get a 100% perfect outcome so In the BEGINNING,take your time, exhaust all your resources and energy and plan, plan, plan. . . If it STARTS off right it you'll get close to the desired outcome. 2-Keep it simple I now will add "Clarity" to my formula for success. CLARITY AND KEEPING IT SIMPLE BREEDS SUCCESS . . . . I know the advice above is simple but isn't that what it's all about. Thanks Ringo, This information not only was great for my website but it reminded me that "keeping it simple and clear" got me and my teams through some wicked situations Best wishes Barry
Re: Internet Marketing is the best business in the world Re: Internet Marketing is the best business in the world - [quote="WhyNot":ms4wci6i]You stated that you can get your product in front of millions of people within 5 minutes using PPC. What is PPC? I am considering writing an e-book, how can I best market it? [/quote:ms4wci6i] It is Pay per click advertising. You have google, yahoo, MSN and other sites that offer it. Your ad shows up along site of the search results for the key words you specify and on other sites as "sponsered results". You could test the market with PPC (track where you get your hits from;keywords and so forth and use SEO to get FREE traffic), or Free methods like article marketing.. Either way you have to [u:ms4wci6i]know what your doing [/u:ms4wci6i](supply,demand, niche, [u:ms4wci6i]Highly[/u:ms4wci6i] targeted prospects, Location specifics [country, state, city, zip code,] etc.). Getting Started In Your New Internet Business Getting Started In Your New Internet Business - I always think it’s fun and exciting to start a new Internet business. I know for me that I would do something that I’m interested and passionate about. Otherwise the new venture doesn’t last for long. As it’s just as important to have passion, motivation and interest, there are a few areas that help me succeed in business. Promoting Your Internet Business I would call this the “show me the money” part of the business. Without money or income, there is no business. Therefore it’s important to promote your business and turn your promotional activities into sales. At every opportunity, try to promote your business through passive means: e.g. through your stationary, letterheads, emails, brochures and any other promotional material you may use. Even if it’s just an article you write for a directory, remember to put your website address at the bottom of it. In the past, I made stickers of my logo that I could easily stick on my products. Also I made sure that every email I sent out to a customer had a company logo in it. This all helps with creating the brand for the business. It’s crucial to develop a marketing plan that will not only sell your products, but also your brand. Here are some other articles I recommend to read to help you promote your Internet business: * Spreading The Word: Turbocharge Your Traffic * Converting Traffic Into Sales Part 1: Generating Leads * Converting Traffic Into Sales Part 2: Profiting From The Back-End * 12 Sales Effective Marketing Tips Operating Your Business This is the “lifeblood” of the business and I’m amazed at the amount of businesses that still operate without having good systems in place. An electrician I use from time to time asked me how I maintain my book work and said he doesn’t know how to do it. I was shocked because I’d known him to be trading for over 2 years and he probably doesn’t know how much money is being made in his business or let alone lost. What I am saying is to not be like my Electrician friend and make sure you buy an accounting software to track all your accounts and paperwork. I would suggest hiring a book keeper because it will save you the hassle and time of doing it all yourself. Some good software packages out there that are under $500 like MYOB Accounting and QuickBooks will be more than sufficient when you start out. Another area that most people forget or get caught out on are getting the appropriate insurances for your business. The most common are public liability insurance, fire, burglary, vehicle and workers compensation insurance. All these can be easily found via a quick search on Google. I would recommend ensuring both public liability and fire insurances are in place before even running your business. Keeping Pace And Staying Up To Date This may sound all too overwhelming when you have to promote, operate your business and keep up to date with your industry. Believe me it’s not as hard as it sounds. Take the first step and join a trade association or your local Chamber of Commerce. You will find it both informative and beneficial to your business. To know what is happening in your area and within your industry can help you make better decisions for promoting your product or service. Whether it may be time to change a product line or add more services to your business, you will be keeping up with the industry and making sure you are not missing out on opportunities. Also it’s a great way to network and promote within your trade associations and Chamber of Commerce. Simply write an article to contribute and it can be used as great public relations (P.R) for your business. Also I emphasise to have a well prepared business plan created before starting your business, because this will be your starting point. A business plan is useful for so many areas for your business from sourcing finance to implementing a growth strategy for the next 5 years. Once it’s written down, it will become a living breathing document that you can update and review over time. I’ve just finished preparing my business plan for this business which took nearly 3 weeks to complete but I can tell you that it is well worth the time and effort to do. Learn how to put your own business plan together and I can guarantee you that you’ll get finance and negotiate business deals much easier. The Future Of Your Internet Business Starting your Internet Business is rewarding and if you look into those areas I have mentioned, then you will have a good foundation to running a successful Internet Business. Take action today and know that you deserve to live your dream. Tyrone Shum Internet Business Coach
