Free Download - How to Use Corporate Secrets to Manage "You, Inc. " By Maria Marsala |
Here's the deal. “Tis easier to get new clients from those
who know you, and those who love you, then it is to get
them from someone who doesn't know you from “a hole in the
wall”.”
So, how do you do it? Thomas Leonard (who developed two
coaching schools and two international coaching associations)
created a process called the Jane Smart letter.
(see Recommended Resources for the
link)
Then every other month or quarterly continue the process by
sending something to your updated database. And yes, a
majority of this process is a paper process, where you
actually put stamps on something and spend some money on
the people you know.
The thing is that you have to make it interesting for them!
Remember it’s about benefits to them, to those they love
or know. Because if all it is… is about you... they’ll
quickly see that and consider your mail as the latest junk
mail.
Create your own follow up process by viewing the steps my
clients use:
1) Create a list of everyone you know. Include former
colleagues, alumni, clients, family, friends, etc.
2a) Send them a letter.
Send them a 1 or 8 page newsletter.
Send them a CD with an MP3 of an interview someone else
did of you.
Send them a CD with an MP3 of a class you’ve taught.
Send them a gift certificate.
Send them your new business cards.
Send them an assessment.
Send them a magazine article where you have been
mentioned.
Send them some testimonials you've received.
Send them an article you wrote.
Send them current news or magazine clippings of
articles that would be of interest to them.
Send them something you know they’d enjoy.
Send them something they could share with others.
Send them a referral letter like the one I’m
recommending in the “Resources” area of this newsletter.
Send them a gift of some sort.
Work with a copywriter to create a direct marketing
process, send what you create to your database.
What else do you have that you can send mail them that
won't cost you a small fortune?
2b) Tell them something new you’re doing.
Tell them about a new product.
Tell them how your clients have changed.
Tell the about some classes you're teaching.
Tell them what you're looking to do in the upcoming
months.
Tell them that you need their help as you’re looking
for “x” new
clients.
Tell them that you’re website has been updated and why
they should visit
(think free report to subscribe to your newsletter)
What else can you tell them that they'd be interested in
knowing about?
2b) Ask them for help in getting the word out about your
services.
Ask them to tell others about your website.
Ask them to pass along your business cards.
Ask them for an introduction to someone they know who
could use your
services or products.
What else can you ask them for? Remember, that people love
to help and support their friends and people who have helped them.
3) Call them. Yes, a good old fashion conversion can work
wonders!
Then watch the results come in!
