How Did I Land Here?

On Good Friday, April 2, 2010 I found myself standing on a deck, overlooking a small bay of a very large lake, in the middle of wilderness, with snow lightly falling around me. I just stood there and breathed in this incredible scene, this beautiful air and simply listened to nature, uninhabited by anything. It was truly amazing.

As I stood there in total gratitude and awe of finding myself having this incredible experience, the thought crossed my mind. How did I manage to land myself here? And I smiled from ear to ear as I laughed out loud and thought about how life had taken a farm girl from Prince Edward Island and landed her in the wilderness of the Northwest Territories. And I marvelled at the synchronized events that I immediately recognized as I followed a "chain of events" that landed me in the middle of this very unique experience.

I laughed again as I looked down the cliff at the Bronco that had driven us here and was now sitting on a frozen lake. You see, we were in a cabin on a lake and the only way to get there in the winter time is to drive across what is known as an "ice road". I did not know what an ice road was as I had no concept of what it meant to drive up a lake.

And that is exactly what we did. We drove onto the frozen lake and proceeded to head right out to the middle of it where there was a path, a road. Then we proceeded to drive straight up the lake until we came to our turn, a driveway on the frozen lake! And then we headed to the cabin. The truck simply gets parked where the boat would be parked in the summer and everything just seems to be as it should be, with a truck sitting on a frozen lake. Simply amazing!

In thinking about how I landed there, I recognized that there were certain things in play in order for me to have created and attracted this incredible experience. I recognize three things in particular, (1) intuition, (2) trust, (3) taking action:

(1) Intuition is that wonderful voice or feeling inside of us that can either nudge us to do something, down right bug us until we do it, or provide instructions. It can invade our minds with persistent thoughts over and over again or it can create large amounts of excitement in us at the mere thought of doing something. Or it can be a soft, subtle knowing that this is the right thing for me.

Paying attention to the signs from my intuition is something that I had to relearn how to do. At an early age I had learned how to tune it out or turn it off and pay no attention to it. However things never seemed to work out for me and I couldn't figure out why. Now I know that part of this was because I was constantly going against my intuition.

So when that voice inside of me spoke up and said, "I wonder what Jacqueline is doing for Easter? I should call her." I listened. And that is exactly what it said. So I immediately picked up the phone, called her and popped the question. She was available and plans were made.

Now to make a point here, I would just like to add that I could have talked myself out of calling my friend by telling myself that she was probably busy or something like that. Look at what I would have missed out on! And that was just the first day. I continued on to have an incredibly wonderful weekend.

So when an idea, feeling or instructions pop into your mind that feel good and that you can get excited about, act now before you allow that negative side of your self talk you out of it.

(2) Trust was once a very tough one for me. I had to relearn how to trust my own intuition and trust what is true for me, going to be in my highest good. If the idea is coming to me, shouldn't I be able to trust that it is in my best interest? That depends.

What I know to be true is this. If it is a loving, kind, positive thought, it is coming from my authentic self and is always in my best interest or highest good. When I act on these, things always turn out for my higher good.

If it is a negative, destructive thought, it is coming from my ego and is never in my best interest or my highest good. When I act on these, I always get myself into trouble, end of hurting others and ultimately, end up hurting myself.

So relearning how to trust myself also involved learning how to distinguish between the two and trusting my own judgment as to what I need to do next. I can look back over the past couple of years and pick out which of those actions I took came from my authentic self and which came from my ego. From this I can also see the results of both, positive and negative, which took me off my path and which kept me on my path.

(3) Taking action is the best step of all. Once I have acknowledged the intuition and trust its authenticity, now I get to take action. One thing I have found in regards to taking action is that if it is something I can do right away, like pick up the phone and call someone, I need to do it as the thought comes to me. If I start waiting, that just gives my mind time to start talking me out of the action and therefore, missing out on a great opportunity.

Taking immediate action is imperative. I believe that the intuition arrives to us at the exact time that we need to act upon it. It is not showing up early just to make sure it is on time. Its timing is always perfect.

For example, right after I called my friend in Yellowknife and confirmed my plans, I had to book a flight. I was going to wait until the next day but my intuition kept nudging me to do it NOW! So I went in to check flights and prices and found that it was the last day of a fantastic seat sale. Had I waited until the next day, the seat sale would have been over. My intuition was supporting me in getting the best ticket for me.

So wouldn't that leave us to believe that our intuition is always working for our best benefit? This is another great distinguishing point to use when determining whether it is intuition or ego delivering the nudge or thought. They both work using the same avenues.

Sometimes we can get such a strong intuitive directive that our whole body seems to be engaged in getting us to take the action. It is so strong that it is impossible to deny it or talk ourselves out of it. I had this experience two years ago when I received an invitation to move to Alberta. My whole body was almost screaming "Yes, yes, yes." It was so strong that I knew, beyond the shadow of any doubt, that I had to move to Alberta. I was coming out for a visit and I knew I would not be able to get on the plane to leave.

So rather than fight it, wrestle with it or agonized over it, I just trusted it, took action and moved, much to the shock of many others. But I knew it was the right decision for me regardless of what anyone else thought. And two years later, I found myself standing on that deck in the middle of wilderness in total gratitude for following that intuitive guidance.

I met a gentleman this weekend that in a conversation with a group made a very profound stated that went something like, "When it comes to my intuitive, I just do." When I heard this I realized acting immediately on these intuitive instructions has to be the way it happens. Wow, what a great way to lead my life.

In conclusion, your task, if you should decide to take it on, is to take some time to consider how you have come to where you are right now in your life, whether positive or negative. Write down on a piece of paper as many intuitive thoughts that you can connect with that got you here, as well as ego thoughts. See how far back you can create a chain of events for yourself taking notice of which were positive and which were negative.

For moving forward, become more consciously aware of and start looking for your intuitive instructions from your authentic self to keep yourself on tract for all of the wonderful experiences that you wish to create for yourself and the Universe is willing to deliver to you through your intuitive guide. I invite you to join me in making the decision to "Just do it".

With love and gratitude,

Elizabeth

Franchise Choice Franchise Choice - I would go with the fruit flower arrangements (flower baskets & centerpieces made out of real fruit). Those franchises have a high success rate and have a fast ROI. When you think about it, with a great location and heavy advertising in place you can really do well with that one. Land a few wedding planners and catering halls as clients and you can really do well. Not to mention that people are always going to be giving gifts and throwing party's and think of the holidays! I can see that being really well for valentines day, mothers day and Easter among all the other holidays. I went to a wedding and they had them on the table rather than real flowers. Everyone was boasting about what a great idea that was and guests really enjoyed eating them! It sure seems like it could be the new craze with weddings.
Tips for Securing Financing Tips for Securing Financing - I've started the search for Comps in my area and Melinda has helped. Something I don't know about though is how similar does my design need to be to the comps I find? I get the impression that it doesn't really matter what type of dome, lenders tend to treat all types of domes similarly. Almost everything I've been able to locate around here appears to be Geodesic and most are two storys. I have found sales between $75,000 and $255,000. There is one over near the coast (about 100 miles from my site) on the market for $295,000 but I don't know if it has sold yet. I don't know how recent the sales need to be. I know Appraisers can make adjustments for things like fireplaces and such. How much can they adjust for? How would they do the figuring for a dome home? There was a sale of a Geodesic dome South of Winter Garden, FL 1/30/04 for $255,000 It is a 3 Bed/3 Bath on two floors 2508 SF of living space. 3512 Gross SF. It was built in 1984. County says the building value is $168,031 but it would cost about $193,139 to build new. Land value at $25,000 according to the county (which is a lot less than the selling price in most cases.) There is another Dome not too far away that sold in 2002 for 185,000. I have to assume that this other one must not have been in as good a shape and is smaller. Would an assessor then use these dome comps to compare to regular home sales in the area to figure out the difference in price between regular and dome houses and then use this ratio when assessing the design of a proposed new dome? Or is it a different operation all together? Or would they use the dome comps as direct comps in which case would I need to make sure my design matched the comps as closely as possible? It seems that the lender won't tell me much until the appraiser can compare my design to the comps and say what it is worth. I don't want to commit to a design until I have an idea of what I will be able to get financing for. (Since I found out what the min SF is for my lot, I realize I probably can't afford to build it out of pocket in a reasonable amount of time therefore I need financing.) Can anyone who has gone through the process share some tips? Or even anyone who understands the process as it pertains to domes?
