Social Media Marketing Campaign Steps for Success

A social media campaign is important for your company’s success. Social media can lead to more recognition, has a faster turnaround than traditional advertising, generally costs less than traditional advertising, helps gain you higher search engine rankings, and gives you the power of word of mouth. Before you can reap the benefits of a social media marketing campaign, you must set goals, make a plan, research the different types of social media tools, implement the plan, and then track the results of the tools you do implement.

Set Goals

Do not skip this important step. Goals that are clearly defined will help to keep you on track and keep you motivated to reach the milestones you have set for you and your company. Your goals should be as specific as possible.

Brainstorm and then categorize these goals. Be sure to be realistic and set practical deadlines for each goal. Otherwise this step could backfire and cause more frustration than motivation to move forward. Create steps that will need to be done to achieve these goals. There is nothing more satisfying and motivating than a goal that has just been achieved.

Considerations Prior to Creating a Plan

Now that you have your goals in place, you need to create a plan that will help you reach these goals you have set. Before you check into the different social media tools available to you, take into consideration the following:

Defining your target market is critical when trying to develop a successful social media marketing campaign. Trying to reach a mass amount of people who are not interested in what you have to offer is not only wasting your time and money, but is completely ineffective and can damage your chances of becoming a success.

Your chances of success increase significantly when you target a group of interested people, rather than trying to target a group that has no interest. Once you find your target market, you can address their needs by providing content through social media that is pertinent to them.

Understand that it will take time and dedication to create a successful campaign and implement any strategies you choose. Prepare in advance on how much time you will need to implement these strategies. You must also be prepared for instant results. Social media will reach people instantly. Therefore, your company must be ready for these possible prospects. Don’t implement any plans until you are completely prepared to handle all situations.

Creating a Plan with these Popular Social Media Marketing Tools

There are many different social media tools available to help you create a plan that will work for your company. What may work for one company may not be what works for your company. Therefore, you should take into consideration your goals, target market, and the time involved before you actually decide on a strategy. Here are just a few ideas to try:

These are just a few ideas to get you started. There are many other social media tools you can utilize to help you with your social media marketing campaign.

Implementing your Plan and Tracking Results

Once you create a plan and decide on the different social media marketing tools you will use, then you will need to implement them. Simply making a plan will not create results. You must take the steps necessary to implement these strategies.

Tracking your results is important so you know you have chosen the right tools for your company. There are different ways to track your inbound leads; however, the best and simplest way to track your results is to ask your customers. Ask them how they discovered your website and/or product or service. A social media marketing campaign is a great way to market your business and the results can be significant to your company’s success.

But I agree with the rest that the 10 recent post is nice. Maybe we should open up a new section in the forums on Social Media...or Social Media Marketing. I will tell you that the world is about 1 1/2 behind when it comes to understanding social media. Building a section now will put EvanCarmichael.com is a great position a year down the road when people realize Social Media can produce more traffic than SEO. Jeff

Jeff[/quote:gvtxsu7g] Hi Jeff, Thanks for the suggestion. Why don't you start a new post (with a poll) to see if there's enough interest in your idea for a social media section?
Re: Should Evan add a "Social Media Marketing" category to the f Re: Should Evan add a "Social Media Marketing" category to the f - Hi, Online Marketing would be a great title, and having sub categories would make it even better, there would plenty of categories to choose from, Social Media, SEO, Article Marketing and yes even Affiliate Marketing to name just a few, great looking site btw Jeff, take care, Carol
Re: Should Evan add a "Social Media Marketing" category to the f Re: Should Evan add a "Social Media Marketing" category to the f - Just as an update, Evan has extended the poll's expiration date and says he'd like to see at least 25 "yes" votes before implementing the new category. Moreover, it would probably be called "Online Marketing" instead of Social Media Marketing".
