Free Website Promotion for the Beginning Entrepreneur
In these tough economic times starting an online business is a great low-cost solution for many
people with a dream and a tight budget. A traditional brick and mortar business is expensive to
start and to operate because of the high overhead costs--in contrast an online business has
comparatively little overhead and maintenance costs.
It has been said that the business that does not advertise is dead, and that is very true both online and off. However, in the real world there are very few cost free or even low cost options for advertising...and yet countless such opportunities exist in the virtual world. And that is the real reason that an online business--or even the online arm of a brick and mortar business--can
actually thrive and compete in the virtual world.
The Internet always has been and--at least for the foreseeable future--always will be content driven. Videos, gadgets, games, software and fancy flash graphics are all fun and we all love them; but no one would ever see and enjoy any of them if someone had not first written a compelling
description of their merits as cannon fodder for the search engines. Search engines deal in
descriptive text, emails deal in descriptive text, links to the webpages deal in descriptive text...and descriptive text, and therefore descriptive text is the basic fuel that drives any successful website.
Ignore that rule of thumb at your peril!
Article marketing is the best way to promote your business online...and the best part of all it is
free. After all, what better way to reach your target market than to produce unique articles and free Ebooks that directly affect them and their interests. For example, if you have a product that
relieves arthritis pain, or otherwise makes it easier for someone to live and cope with arthritis, the best possible way to target your chosen market and reach your target audience is to write articles that quickly and easily inform and educate them on methods to make their life easier... including the benefits of your own product, of course.
You are probably saying, "Wow, free advertising, that sounds, great!" and it is, but as with all
good things there is a catch. The more articles you have the better your site will rank and the
more traffic you will receive from people interested in your product; but not just any old article will do. In order for your site to increase in ranking and draw traffic, you must do one of two things.
1. Pay for traffic via Pay Per Click or perhaps Pay Per Action links from the various search
engines....
2. Build your site with content that is uniquely your own and submit it to the search engines.
I promise, you can put up unedited Private Label Articles(PLR) from now til the cows come home
and it will actually hurt your ranking more than help it.
I know it sounds like a lot of work, but it really is not very difficult, and if you find it terribly so, then hire a freelance writer or someone who is good at writing to do it for you...just make sure they know enough about your product and your topic to do a good job.
Here are some tips on how to do it.
1. Write as if you are talking to your readers
Be friendly and conversational. Make it easy for people to read and understand. Write your articles as if you were just sitting across the table sharing a glass of iced tea. This makes it easier for your reader to relate to your topic and absorb the ideas you are presenting.
2. Use simple words
Personally, I love words—the bigger and fancier the better—which is why I am not a best-selling novelist! Whether you are trying to write books or articles, there really is no sense in using words that sound like you swallowed a dictionary. Your readers will not be intrigued or amused and they probably won't hang around long enough to read past the first paragraph.
Using simple words allows you to create a friendly connection with your readers. That way they can concentrate on what you are saying—not how you are saying it.
3. Write short articles
With online content, the shorter the better. Most people who use the Internet have short attention spans. They generally do not have the time or patience to weed through a lot of extraneous verbiage. (See what I mean about big words?) So, to win friends and influence people online--make it simple, short, and sweet.
And that my friends is how you get free advertising on the Internet.... And that's a deal that's
scarcer than hen's teeth in the real world.

It is not wealth one asks for, but just enough to preserve one’s dignity, to work unhampered, to
be generous, frank and independent.
