Private Label Rights or PLR articles are a hot item on the Internet. Hundreds of people are either selling them or giving them away, and all of them would have you believe that they are the greatest thing since sliced bread--and they are. The problem is, that's only half the story, and the other half is usually glossed over because it sounds too much like work.
Do not let anyone fool you. The majority of PLR articles that people sell or give away are virtually useless! To make a really bad pun out of it--they are literally not worth the paper they are written on. Why? Because everyone and their brother has them either gathering dust on their computer or live and online gathering dust on their lost and lonely website.
Whether or not there is an actual duplicate content penalty is a hotly debatable matter of question. Ask that question and you will get a thousand different answers--usually depending on the vested financial interests of those answering the question.
The honest truth of the matter is...in the final analysis, it does not matter if there is a duplicate content penalty or not, because whoever submits them to--and thereby gets listed in the search engines first--is the one that is going to get the Primo ranking for unique content. Everyone else is just going to be the proverbial Johnny Come Lately--they will get listed, but they will be so far down the list that it really will not matter.
You can buy all of the PLR articles you want and you can put them up all day long in any format you choose--Ebooks, webpages, or blog posts--and it really will not matter a hoot in Hades for ranking purposes if you were not the first one to post that article and submit it to the search engines. ...And believe me, you will never ever--ever--be the first one to post any PLR article that you are sold or given on the Internet.
So why did I say they actually are the greatest thing since sliced bread? Because they offer anyone, anywhere at almost any literacy level, a great "starting point" for writing a unique article that they “can” be the first one to post and submit to the search engines. You can use the rest as filler on your website for the reading pleasure of your visitors, but first you must have unique content to submit to the search engines and draw people in.
And that...my friends is the worst kept on the Internet. If you want to draw traffic to your website all you have to do is write and submit unique content. You do not have to be the world's greatest writer--and unfortunately you also do not even have to know what you are talking about. You can merely take just any one--or maybe two--of the tens of thousands of endlessly circulating PLR articles that are available and extensively rewrite it to make it exclusively your own and then hand-submit it to the search engines. From start to finish the process should not take more than 20 to 30 minutes, and “Ta Da!” suddenly you can become a fierce competitor for search engine ranking and draw lots of visitors to your website!
Now for some of you reading this a light bulb just went on. “Ah hah!” You are thinking, I can beat that. Didn't I just just get 15 different emails telling me about this wonderful Article Spinner that would let me rewrite hundreds of articles all at the same time in one fell swoop?
Wrong idea! Go sit in that same old dusty corner with your unvisited webpages!
Article Spinners merely swap out paragraphs and synonyms. Admittedly some are better and fancier than others, but in the final analysis a mechanically spun article is just as--if not even more so--useless as an unedited PLR article. It still is not going to have unique content, it is not going to achieve any ranking, and it will probably read like gibberish, so if someone actually did stumble onto your website via a random low-ranking link somewhere they would probably quickly leave in disgust.
Now, that may be OK if you are just trying to attract people to your website in the hope that they will click on an AdSense or affiliate link. However, even given that scenario the chances are better that they will hang around long enough to actually make that fateful click if you give them something of substance to look at first.
More importantly, for those business people who actually want people to visit our websites for the valuable information or the products we provide--unique and valuable content is imperative. Let me reiterate...unique and valuable content is worth it's weight in gold on the Internet because that “is” the coin in which the Search Engines naturally deal!
So, in the absolute final analysis:
You absolutely, positively must have unique content to build ranking. If you want or need to use PLR articles to jump-start building your business website, do not waste your time with unedited PLR content that has not been extensively rewritten for unique content!
Do it yourself if at all possible, because no one knows your business better than you, and no one else can write about your business as knowledgeably and as easily as you. But, not everyone is writer, so if it takes getting a friend, an employee, a high school or college student or even your mother to write original articles or hand edit a few (all is better, of course) of the PLR articles for you, then swallow your pride and ask them to do so out of the goodness of their heart. If that fails, pull out your wallet and pay them. It really does not matter so much who does the rewrites, just so you—as Larry the Cable guy says—“Git 'er done!” I promise, your website ranking and online success depend on it. It is not nearly as much work as most people fear and that, my friend, is the only true million dollar miracle secret to online success.
