The Quick and Easy And Mostly Free Way To Build A Money Making List
So what is the quickest, easiest, best and mostly free way to build your list?
Freebies: The Internet was built on the free exchange of ideas and information. People have come to expect gifts and unlimited access--and if you want to sell anything online you had best plan on rewarding people for visiting your site. This can be done with free gifts, free information, free activities, free access—but the key word here is “free.”
Ebooks and software can both be branded with your Name, Logo and a clickable link back to your website. Give them away to your heart's content, and even better than that—make them viral so that the people you give them to can give them away as well! It all adds up to free advertising for you.
People online are also accustomed to having to give out their email address in order to receive these freebies, and that is how you build your list. However, keep in mind that a “smart” marketer is asking for trust along with that email address and once you violate that trust by sending a lot of spam, or other unexpected and unsolicited email you will lose any hope of ever selling to that customer.
That bears repeating. Spam them, or just send too many annoying emails, or just send an innocuous email on a day when everyone else is annoying them with a lot of emails and you will lose them and any hope of ever selling them on the benefits of your products.
Giveaways: There is an Internet phenomenon called the Giveaway. It is an Internet tradition is built on the following ideas.
* There is strength in numbers. Join together for a common goal and everyone wins.
This is especially true on the Internet where a new website can go virtually unnoticed for
months or even years without some substantial and educated SEO efforts.
* The better quality of the gifts or the more contributors a giveaway has, the greater the traffic,
the higher the search engine ranking, the more visitors a giveaway will receive, and the greater
potential growth for each of the contributor's lists.
* The Cream of the Crop Will Rise to the Top in a System Built on Free Market Competition.
The Supposed Downside of Giveaways
There is a disturbing new trend in the online Giveaway world that discourages the contribution of gifts from the neophyte list-builders while at the same time almost insultingly refers to the Giveaway visitors that the Giveaway was created to attract as "just freebie seekers."
This, in my humble opinion, is absolute nonsense.
The Internet was built on the concept of a free exchange of ideas and information; so why discourage new people from contributing gifts thereby reducing the breadth, substance and the quality of your gift pool? Think about it, where would the so-called Giveaway be if the promoters had to buy all of the gifts in their Giveaway? It appears to me that anyone who is contributing a good quality or unique gift is doing that Giveaway Promoter a huge favor.
And as for “freebie seekers” that visit in search of the gifts, think of it this way. These people are doing the Giveaway a mega-huge favor just by visiting. In the world of offline marketing, one, two or three percent is considered a good direct marketing response rate; so why would anyone be so ungenerous of mind and spirit as to disdain visits from people just because they come seeking what is freely offered? Sure, you may never sell anything to 97% of the people that download your gift—but so what?
* In the first place these visitors are increasing traffic to your Giveaway and/or website and thereby increasing your ranking in the search engines and helping you to get even more traffic.
* In the second place, even if you only sell to one, two or three percent, but still have the potential to someday, maybe sell to the other 97% (as long as they remain on your list), what business person in their right mind would not be darned glad to have them on their list?
Internet marketing is not like the offline world where every person you contact costs you printing and postage. Branded software, and ebooks cost your nothing to give away accept whatever you spend developing the product you giveaway and the minimal cost of bandwidth. Furthermore, depending on the Autoresponder that you choose to use, it does not cost you any more time and effort to send out a million, or ten thousand, or even five hundred emails, than it does to send out one email.
So the final word on this—in my humble opinion—is, put together a good quality and unique gift or have a professional prepare a customized, branded and viral gift for you and then...
#1 Give your gift away directly from your website.
#2 Find some Contributor-Friendly Giveaways and join them.
#3 Promote the Giveaway to the absolute best of your ability, because what is good for one is
equally good for all.
