Goal Setting for Women Entrepreneurs

There are many different hats a woman has to wear to push her business to the next level of success. One of these hats is that of new business developer. That job includes the fun process of setting and achieving goals.

Women have the distinct skill of being natural connectors. They talk with friends and colleagues about their kids, their homes, their hair, their husbands. So it makes sense to apply this natural tendency to goal setting for their businesses.

There are 3 phases to setting and achieving your business goals:

deciding what you want to achieve
focusing energy and attention on that desire
allowing that desire to manifest for you

First make a list of your top 3 goals. For example:
I want 3 new clients in the next month
I want to have a new office space by the end of the year
I’ll have 2 new talented and reliable contractors working with me in 2 months

By writing your goals on paper, you’ll be forced to be clear and specific on what you want for your company. Being clear and concise about your goal list will set the wheels in motion in your subconscious. You can’t move forward in a powerful and determined way until you know what path you want to go down. This list gives you direction and focus.

When you have your list, you need to brainstorm on each item. Consider all the ways in which it might be possible for you to make your list a reality. The Universe won’t know what you want until you spend some good “thought energy” on those goals. Pondering your goals and charting a course on paper is powerful but taking initiative and acting on your plan is essential as well. The Universe needs to know that you’re working in a logical way to manifest your goals for yourself. Something happens when you start thinking, talking and acting on your goal list. Your conscious and subconscious start working to solve the puzzle and get you what you need.

It sounds mystical and “new age” but it is actually very logical. It’s the domino effect at work. When you make your needs known to the people that surround you in life it’s called “being transparent.” It takes courage to trust people with your dreams but they in turn, mention your needs to their friends and colleagues and before you know it, someone has a piece of the puzzle to offer you. That piece or solution might be a contact, a bit of information, a reference book, knowledge of a association that can help, etc.

Being open to receive that solution is key to success. Allowing your goal list to become a reality is really simply having faith – faith that you can achieve your list, that you will be shown a solution and that you deserve to achieve your ideals. It sounds simple but the power of positive thinking and living in a conscious and transparent way is empowering for women and shouldn’t be underrated.
