Are You Saying This Magical Phrase To Your Customers

Written by: Kim Duke

Article Overview: Are You Offering Change To Your Customers? I just loved how Maria captured selling with one phrase. "I offer change." And yet, you and I both know that the majority of people try to sell by INFO DUMPING all over their customer vs ASKING what kinds of CHANGE their customer is looking for. Remember - selling is when you're offering a means, an opportunity for someone to make a positive change. How cool is that?

Are You Saying This Magical Phrase To Your Customers

The other day I was at my wonderful hair stylist - the only stylist EVER who understands my ultra-thick curly hair (oh yes - I live for my flat iron!)
Maria emigrated from Poland and she has many stories of living under Communist regime and being hungry constantly as a child.
She pronounces my name as "Keeeeem" and is not only a talented hair stylist; she is also a talented musician who plays the viola and piano.
We always have the best conversations. As she was cutting my hair, we were discussing selling. Maria said:
"Keeeem - I don't sell - I offer change."
Here's me, with wet hair, wearing the black rubber cape and I yelled "I need a pen to write that down!"

Are You Offering Change To Your Customers?
I just loved how Maria captured selling with one phrase. "I offer change."
And yet, you and I both know that the majority of people try to sell by INFO DUMPING all over their customer vs ASKING what kinds of CHANGE their customer is looking for.
Remember - selling is when you're offering a means, an opportunity for someone to make a positive change.
How cool is that?

How Do Your Find Out The Changes Your Customers Want?
Ask them.
We're all looking for companies that offer us the change we're seeking. Plus - we all LOVE when they offer the "change" in a unique, interesting and dependable way.
If you haven't asked what your customers want - you're missing out. Missing money, missing opportunities and definitely missing chances to develop lasting customer relationships.
Go to www.surveymonkey.com and create a survey. (I can barely operate a vacuum and I did it!) Then you can send the survey to 100 people for free.
Send 3 questions, use a selection of multiple choice answers and also ask your customer to write suggestions. Ask what they would like more of, less of, anything that is driving them nuts and what they need help with!

Are You Offering Change Or More Of The "Same-Old Same-Old"?
It's time for you to shake things up. Give it a twist. Turn it upside down! I would bet that you need to start focusing MORE on "offering change" and as soon as you do...your sales numbers will start changing for the better too!

So there.

Love From Your Bossy Sales Diva,
Kim

Re: pitching Re: pitching - Friendliness is closely related to the concept of "permission marketing" as articulated by Seth Godin. The subtitle of his book says it all: "Permission Marketing: Turning Strangers into Friends and Friends into Customers." The old method was "interruption marketing" where you suddenly get an ad in your face whether you want it or not...
20% increase 20% increase - One of my businesses uses a system to help business owners manage customer relationships and encourage more referrals. I'm finding that this economy is making business owners take a second look at their business and it's assets (aka customers) to see how they can leverage them. Make those Customers (one-time sale) into Clients (repeat sales). I'm finding them more open to having this discussion with me and the results are speaking for itself. Everyone I've worked with so far has seen at least a 20% increase in sales or referrals within 4-6 months all done by managing an existing relationship.
